🔥 BEFORE YOU BURN, KNOW WHAT’S SAFE 🔥

Liberty County Fire Rescue is reminding citizens that not everything belongs in a burn pile. Burning prohibited materials can release toxic chemicals, create dangerous fire conditions, and violate Georgia Forestry Commission regulations.

✅ OK to burn:
• Leaves
• Pine straw
• Brush & limbs
• Natural vegetation
• Grass & yard debris

🚫 NOT OK to burn:
• Household garbage
• Tires or rubber
• Treated or painted wood
• Construction debris
• Chemicals or hazardous waste

Protect your neighbors, our firefighters, and the environment by burning responsibly and always checking current burn conditions before lighting a fire.

🔥 BURN BAN LIFTED 🔥

Effective immediately, the burn ban for Liberty County has been lifted. While outdoor burning is now permitted, Liberty County Fire Rescue urges all citizens to continue practicing safe burning habits and remain mindful of changing weather conditions.

Please remember:
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep a water source or hose nearby
• Burn only in safe, controlled areas
• Monitor wind conditions closely
• Fully extinguish fires before leaving the area

Even with recent rainfall, dry vegetation and changing conditions can still create fire hazards quickly. Let’s continue working together to keep Liberty County safe.

Thank you to our community for helping reduce wildfire risks during the burn ban period. 🚒🔥

Liberty County is still under a temporary burn ban.

Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the state burn ban restrictions for Liberty County; however, the local burn ban remains in effect due to ongoing hazardous fire conditions and drought concerns.

Please continue to refrain from outdoor burning until further notice. Even with recent rainfall, vegetation remains extremely dry and fires can spread rapidly. County officials will reevaluate conditions early next week.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work to keep our community and first responders safe. If you see illegal burning or an unattended fire, please call 911.

🔥 Update: South Georgia Burn Restrictions Eased

Governor Kemp has issued an executive order easing outdoor burning restrictions in parts of South Georgia.

While this is a step in the right direction, burning is still restricted in 17 South Georgia counties, as shown on the map below. These areas continue to face extreme drought and elevated wildfire risk.

⚠️ What to know:
➡️ Some counties are now allowed to resume limited outdoor burning
➡️ Others remain under restrictions due to ongoing fire danger
➡️ Conditions can change quickly—always check before you burn

Even where restrictions have been eased, extreme caution is still critical. Dry conditions remain across much of the state, and it only takes one spark to start a wildfire.
