UPDATE 6:23: Power is fully restored on Spur 144 Fort McAllister Road.

UPDATE 6:16. Power will be off on the Spur for just a few short minutes while the lineman cuts the top of the tree from the lines. Then everyone will be fully restored.

UPDATE 6:12 p.m. Line crews have arrived on site on Spur 144.

Saturday, 6 p.m. Attention members on Spur 144 (Fort McAllister Road). A partial power outage is being repaired now after two of the three phase conductors became wrapped together. Roughly two-thirds of the customers on the Spur are without power. CEO Chris Fettes is on the scene and sent these pictures. A line crew is on the way. Once they arrive, this shouldn’t take very long.

Remembering Dolly Parton 🩷

Our flag flies at half-staff this week as we remember country music legend Dolly Parton, who passed away Tuesday.

Dolly’s generosity was as remarkable as her music. Through decades of philanthropy, she showed what it means to invest in people, believe in their potential and help communities thrive.

That spirit found a natural connection with electric cooperatives. In 2020, Touchstone Energy Cooperatives partnered with the Dollywood Foundation and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for its first national Concern for Community initiative, bringing together two powerful ideas: a love of community and a belief that every child deserves the opportunity to dream.

Through the Imagination Library, children receive books from an early age, planting the seeds of a lifelong love of reading and learning. Dolly once spoke beautifully about those seeds:

“The seeds of these dreams are often found in books and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.”

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on through the dreams she helped nurture and the good she inspired others to do. 📖

Yesterday, we got to celebrate a pretty cool addition to our community! 🥶🎉

Coastal Electric's Chris Fettes and Mark Bolton had the pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting for PermaCold Logistics’ new state-of-the-art cold storage facility at Tidewaters Industrial Park in Darien.

At 216,000 square feet, the $60 million facility is the largest industrial development project ever in McIntosh County and is expected to support 50 jobs in its first phase. We’re proud to have recently energized the new Ti Cold Logistics facility and help power this investment in our community. ⚡️

The ribbon cutting was held inside one of the refrigerated rooms at a refreshing 45 degrees. Let's just say it was certainly the coolest ribbon cutting of the summer! 😎❄️

We’re excited to see this project come to life and look forward to all it will bring to Darien and McIntosh County!

Help us congratulate our own Nathan Burriss for recently completing the Northwest Lineman College Lineworker Certification Program! 👏⚡

The program gives lineworkers additional training to safely construct, maintain and operate the nation’s power grid while helping them grow in their careers.

“Nathan’s intelligence and determination to succeed were instrumental in his very quick completion of this course,” said Operations Manager Jake Horton. “I commend Nathan for a job well done, and I am excited to watch him grow within the cooperative."

Nathan joined Coastal Electric in May 2022 as an apprentice lineman. He previously worked for Pike, one of our contractors, and he’s a lifelong resident of Liberty County.

We appreciate your hard work and dedication, Nathan!
