This week all companies conducted second quarter live fire attack drills. For these scenarios crews were tasked with making fire attack from the building standpipe system. These fire attack scenarios take a lot of work as firefighters have to bring all their equipment inside to attack the fires from a stairwell. Under hot and challenging conditions, your Midwest City firefighters once again performed at the highest level.

Two weeks ago Lone Star Tactical Buildings came to town and brought a major upgrade to our training tower. Their crew added a new burn room to simulate a fire in the kitchen area of a residence. Prior to this, the first floor of the building only had a simulated bedroom fire burn area. This addition presents our firefighters a scenario with one of the most common fire locations and also challenges them to a greater degree due to the way fire moves through an open floor plan. Today your firefighters conducted test burns and both the building and our members handled the conditions well.

๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Sweating, Remembering, and Fellowshipping Together This Memorial Day

This morning, our Green Shift crews kicked off the day by honoring a true hero. They pushed through the grueling "Murph" workoutโ€”a Memorial Day tradition dedicated to Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy and all our fallen military membersโ€”followed by a well-deserved shift breakfast.

"Thanks to Veterans past and present for the freedom to fellowship together as brothers at the fire station."

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Remembering and Honoring Our Heroes This Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, the members of the **Midwest City Fire Department join our community and nation in pausing to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

As first responders, we understand the profound weight of answering the call to protect others. Today, we honor the military heroes who answered that call on a global scale, laying down their lives to secure the freedoms we enjoy every single day. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to a cause greater than themselves will never be forgotten.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude and support to the Gold Star families in our community. We stand with you today, honoring the legacy of your loved ones.

As you spend time with family and friends this Monday, please take a moment with us to reflect on the true meaning of this day.

"Home of the free, because of the brave."

Have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day, Midwest City.

Lint happens. Fires donโ€™t have to. Lint buildup can lead to a dryer fire if itโ€™s not cleaned regularly.

โ€ข Clean the lint filter before or after each load.
โ€ข Make sure the outdoor vent flap opens when the dryer is running.
โ€ข Have a qualified service person clean the inside of the dryer cabinet and exhaust duct once a year.
