On Monday, August 10, the difficult decision was made to close Reno Swim & Slide for the 2026 season. Reno Swim & Slide has been on its weekends-only operation schedule since the week of August 3-7. This closes the facility for the rest of the remaining weekends through Labor Day.

At this point, safety is our biggest concern. Operating the pool at critically low staffing levels increases the risk of having a life-threatening incident at our pool. This is unacceptable.

We apologize to our community for the negative impact this decision will have on Midwest City families and all of our regular patrons. Throughout the season, we appreciated the patience of our patrons as they experienced the challenges we faced.

We would also like to say thank you to the members of the staff who stayed with us through this past weekend, and to those who stayed as long as they could before college/high school commitments pulled them away. The safety record of the staff this season was absolutely commendable. We appreciate their dedication to providing a safe pool for their community.

Our Parks & Recreation management team has been instructed to reopen an RFP to recruit a professional pool management company. The company would handle aquatics operations in 2027 at Reno Swim & Slide. Having a dedicated contractor, specializing in public facility management, seems to be the only way we will be able to compete in this increasingly difficult industry. This is our goal for 2027 so we can provide a better experience for our residents and our visitors to Reno Swim & Slide.

The Midwest City Junior Golf League was a big success in 2026! 29 youth golfers teed up with us this season, playing rounds weekly at Hidden Creek Family Golf Course.

Competitors battled under a point system that awarded golfers for placing in the top 5 in four different age groups. We had golfers from age 8 to age 14 vying for Junior Golf League glory!

Just because the season is over, that doesn't mean the rounds have to end. Remember, we have very reasonable junior golf rates at each of our municipal courses, John Conrad and Hidden Creek.

Keep the kids on the course. Let's Play, Midwest City!

😎We are pleased to announce that the new shade canopy at Joe B. Barnes Regional Park is now complete!

Many of you had requested a bench near the workout equipment, so we included a couple of those as well. 👍

Thank you for your patience throughout the construction of this project, and we hope you really enjoy these improvements!
