Milan Police Department Announces Promotions of Pierce and Roberts

The Milan Police Department is proud to announce the promotions of Sergeant Amber Pierce to Administrative Lieutenant and Dispatcher Laura Roberts to Communications Sergeant, effective August 31, 2026.

Lieutenant Pierce began her career with the Milan Police Department in July 2002 as a dispatcher. Through her dedication, professionalism, and leadership, she advanced within the department and was promoted to Communications Sergeant in 2019. On August 31, 2026, she was promoted to the rank of Administrative Lieutenant.

In her new position, Lieutenant Pierce will assume additional administrative responsibilities within the Milan Police Department and will continue to play an important role in the daily operations of the department.

Laura Roberts began her career with the Milan Police Department as a dispatcher in July 2019. Roberts has been promoted to the rank of Communications Sergeant. In her new role, Sergeant Roberts will oversee MPD's Communications Section and assume other responsibilities.

Police Chief Bobby Sellers said:

“Both Amber and Laura have demonstrated their dedication to the Milan Police Department and to the citizens we serve. Amber has been a tremendous asset to this department for more than 24 years, and her knowledge and experience make her an excellent choice to serve as our Administrative Lieutenant.

Laura has proven herself to be dependable, professional, and capable of taking on greater responsibility. I have every confidence in her ability to lead our Communications Section and continue the high standard of service we expect at MPD.

I am extremely proud of both of them and look forward to seeing them succeed in their new leadership roles.”

Milan Police Department Congratulates Lieutenant Jeff Goad on His Retirement

The Milan Police Department would like to congratulate Lieutenant Jeff Goad on his retirement after more than 37 years of dedicated service to the City of Milan and the Milan Police Department.

Lieutenant Goad began his career with MPD in January 1989 as a dispatcher. Throughout his career, he took on increasing responsibilities and eventually became responsible for managing and overseeing the department’s Communications Section and City Jail. His knowledge, experience, and dedication have been an important part of the day-to-day operations of the Milan Police Department for nearly four decades.

Police Chief Bobby Sellers said:

“Lieutenant Goad was not only an excellent employee who carried many duties and responsibilities and performed them exceptionally well, he was also a dear friend and a brother to the men and women of the Milan Police Department. Jeff has been someone we could depend on for many years, and his experience and friendship will be greatly missed by all of us at MPD.

We congratulate Jeff on an outstanding career and wish him and his wife, Pam, nothing but the very best as they begin this next chapter together. He has certainly earned his retirement, and we hope they enjoy every minute of it.”
