Basic Foods & Nutrition students put their taste buds to the test during the Shopping for Food Lab! Students completed a taste test comparing name-brand and store-brand foods while learning that smart grocery shopping involves more than simply picking a favorite. 👀

Students considered factors such as price, quality, convenience and personal preference as they evaluated each option - gaining practical skills they can use far beyond the classroom.

Real-world learning is what FCS is all about! 💙🧡⚡

Our brand-new kindergarten Chargers are already getting into the swing of things in Mrs. Peugeot’s classroom! During math centers, students are building their early math skills through hands-on activities, practice and plenty of learning together. 🧩📚

🧹⚡ LEARNING HAPPENS EVERYWHERE! ⚡🧹

Mr. Ryan, our elementary custodian, never misses an opportunity to involve students in what he’s doing! Whether he’s working on a project, taking care of the building or tackling a daily task, he’s always willing to let our students watch, ask questions and learn along the way. 👏

It’s those everyday interactions that help students see how much work goes into keeping our school running and give them opportunities to learn something new outside of the classroom. We’re lucky to have staff members like Mr. Ryan who make learning part of the everyday experience at Edison! 💙🧡

On the first day of kindergarten, Mrs. Frederick’s class read First Day Jitters and talked about those nervous feelings that can come with starting something new. Then it was time for a little kindergarten magic! ✨

Mrs. Frederick served up her special “Jitter Juice” to help take those beginning-of-the-school-year jitters away and get everyone ready for a great year of learning, growing and making new friends! 💙🧡

Edison Local Schools is currently seeking Substitute Teachers to join our team!

Substitute teachers play an important role in supporting our students and staff by helping maintain continuity of learning when regular teachers are absent. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children, value education, and want to make a positive impact in our school community.

Substitute Teacher Position Highlights:
- $120–$125 per day, based on qualifications
- Flexible, on-call/as-needed opportunities
- Work in a positive school environment
- Help support student learning and classroom success
- Opportunities to work with students across the district
- Same schedule as your school-aged children

General Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ohio substitute teaching license or teaching license, as required by state regulations
- Successful criminal background check
- Experience working with school-aged children is preferred

👋⚡ STAFF SPOTLIGHT: MR. BEN CHAFFEE, JR. ⚡👋

We’re excited to welcome Mr. Ben Chaffee, Jr. as the Interim Middle School Principal at Edison Middle School! 💙🧡

After recently retiring from 32 years in public education, Mr. Chaffee knew he wasn’t finished working with students and educators. When he was asked to consider the interim principal position, he was excited for the opportunity to stay connected with students and staff while providing support to Edison Middle School during this transition.

This year, Mr. Chaffee is especially excited to engage with all of the students at EMS! He is a proponent of the FISH! Philosophy: Be here, Choose your attitude, Make their day, Play/Have Fun, and he’s looking forward to promoting that philosophy while keeping the P.R.I.D.E. momentum going. 🐟🙌

A sincere thank you to Adam’s on Main in Berlin Heights for generously donating chef coats to support Edison High School’s Pre-Apprenticeship Program! 💙🧡

Through this hands-on food service experience, students are building valuable workplace skills while working alongside our cafeteria staff to help prepare and serve meals. The donated chef coats add an authentic professional touch to the experience while reinforcing the importance of workplace readiness, pride, and professionalism. 👏

Partnerships like this help connect learning in our schools to real-world career opportunities. We are grateful to Adam’s on Main for investing in Edison students and helping them explore what their futures can look like! ⚡
