A little Milan senior services history… with bonus ceremonial shovels. 🥰
Long before MSHL became the nonprofit senior center we are today, the vision for senior services in Milan was rooted in partnership, community support, and a shared belief that older adults deserve a welcoming place to connect, receive support, and age with dignity.
From the early conversations about a senior center in Wilson Park, to the groundbreaking of the Milan Senior Citizens Community Center, to the City’s support in helping the senior program become Milan Seniors for Healthy Living as a nonprofit — MSHL and the City of Milan have been connected in partnership.
Those shovels are a fun reminder that this work was built one step at a time by many hands: city leaders, senior advocates, community members, volunteers, staff, and, most importantly, the seniors who inspired it all.
MSHL exists because Milan’s older adults matter. And we are proud to continue carrying forward the purpose that started this work: connection, wellness, support, and community. ❤️🖤
