Mayor BW Beasley Named Tennessee Municipal League's 2026 Mayor of the Year
MILAN, Tenn. — The City of Milan is proud to announce that Mayor BW Beasley has been selected as the 2026 Tennessee Municipal League (TML) Mayor of the Year, one of the highest honors bestowed upon a municipal leader in the State of Tennessee.
The Mayor of the Year Award recognizes a Tennessee city or town official who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and service to their community. It is one of several Tennessee Municipal League Achievement Awards presented annually to honor excellence in municipal governance and celebrate leaders who have made a lasting impact on their cities and the citizens they serve.
Mayor Beasley, who is serving his third term as Mayor of Milan, has dedicated his administration to strengthening the city's financial foundation, expanding economic development opportunities, improving public services, investing in parks and recreation, and enhancing the quality of life for all who call Milan home.
Among the many accomplishments during his tenure has been the successful transfer of 292 acres from the United States Army to the City of Milan for future economic development—an effort that required nearly a decade of persistence, collaboration, and leadership. Under his administration, Milan has also experienced significant investments in infrastructure, public safety, broadband expansion, downtown revitalization, recreation, and community events that have strengthened the city's reputation as one of Tennessee's premier small communities.
"It is truly an honor to receive this recognition from the Tennessee Municipal League," said Mayor Beasley. "While my name is on this award, it really belongs to the people of Milan. Every accomplishment we've achieved has been made possible through the dedication of our Board of Mayor and Aldermen, city employees, community partners, state and federal leaders, local businesses, and citizens who believe in our community. I am humbled to serve as Mayor of this remarkable city."
Mayor Beasley added, "Milan has always been a community built on hard work, faith, and people who care deeply about one another. This award reflects what can happen when a community works together toward a common vision. The best is yet to come."
Throughout his time in office, Mayor Beasley has emphasized collaboration, fiscal responsibility, and long-term planning while championing initiatives that position Milan for continued growth. His leadership has earned statewide recognition and respect among municipal officials across Tennessee.
The Tennessee Municipal League serves as the statewide organization representing Tennessee's cities and towns, providing advocacy, education, and support to municipal leaders committed to improving local government and strengthening communities.
The City of Milan extends its sincere appreciation to the Tennessee Municipal League for this distinguished recognition and congratulates Mayor BW Beasley on being named the 2026 Tennessee Municipal League Mayor of the Year.
