Rare sighting of Field Technicians out in the wild today - and a new well added to our Monitoring Network!

Field Technician Craig Andrews spent time training Jesse Corona on the process of adding a new well to the District’s Monitoring Network. This includes collecting GPS location and well completion information so the well can help accurately contribute to long-term groundwater level data.

Field visits like this help us better understand local groundwater conditions and support well owners across Burleson and Milam counties.

Please join us in welcoming Jesse Corona to the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District team!

Jesse joins the District as a Field Technician, assisting with well inspections, collect water-level data, support monitoring efforts, and help maintain the information the District uses to better understand and manage local groundwater resources.

We’re glad to have Jesse on board and look forward to the work he’ll do serving Burleson and Milam counties!

Staff attended a presentation this morning with a familiar hydrogeologist presenting, Nick Lamkey of INTERA Inc., about our District's Protective Drawdown Levels, or PDLs, at the Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts business meeting in San Marcos.

Protective Drawdown Levels are one of the tools POSGCD uses to track groundwater level changes in management areas, alongside Desired Future Conditions, or DFCs. While DFCs describe the long-term desired condition of our aquifers, PDLs help the District evaluate more localized water-level changes and identify potential concerns earlier through monitoring and data reviews.

📝Water Rights Disclosure Language Added to Real Estate Contracts

In a huge win for informed decision-making and more effective water management in Texas, real estate contracts will require disclosure of groundwater and surface water rights and provide information about regulation of water rights effective July 1, 2026.

This effort was initiated by TWA and the Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts, using committees that drafted initial versions of the disclosure language. Thanks to all who served on those committees, and especially to Brian Sledge and Charles Porter, who worked these past few years to negotiate specific contract language and address the concerns of realtors to get this effort across the finish line.
