Some of our members dedicate their time not only to serving our community as volunteer firefighters, but also to serving our state and nation through military service. The leadership, training, and experience gained through these opportunities help strengthen our department and improve our ability to serve the citizens of Custer County.
Thank you, Dylan, for your commitment to both your community and your country.

Today we celebrate an incredible group of graduates and firefighters — Evan Pauley, Emery Kountz, Lucas Niece, Sunny Sampson, Jacie Chapweske, Josh Devine, and Trevor Steibler on graduating high school! 🎓🚒🔥

These young men and women have already shown what dedication, sacrifice, and service look like at an early age. While many graduates are still deciding what path to take, this group has already answered the call to serve their community.

Some will continue working as paid seasonal firefighters, some will spend their summers on our contract engine, and others will continue volunteering throughout the county year-round. No matter where their path leads, each of them is helping carry on the tradition of service, hard work, and commitment that keeps our communities safe.

The fire service is built on teamwork, courage, and heart — and this group has already proven they have all three. The future of the fire service is bright because of people like them.

Congratulations graduates. Keep pushing forward, keep chasing your goals, and never forget the impact you already make on the people around you. We are proud to have you as part of our fire family and excited to watch you grow into the next generation of firefighters and leaders. 👏🔥🚒

On Montana roads, every driver shares the responsibility of keeping people safe, especially those working on the side of the highway or responding to emergencies.

The Move Over Law is designed to protect law enforcement, firefighters, EMS crews, tow operators, utility workers, and road maintenance personnel who are often just feet away from live traffic while doing their jobs.

When you see flashing lights or a roadside work scene, Montana law requires you to:
✔ Move over if it’s safe to do so
✔ Slow down significantly when you cannot move over
✔ Stay alert and prepared for changing road conditions

This isn’t just about avoiding a ticket, it’s about preventing a tragedy. These workers are someone’s family, and they deserve to make it home safely at the end of their shift.

You can learn more about the Montana Move Over Law here:
https://www.moveovermontana.org/moveoverlaw

Take a moment to understand it, share it with others, and most importantly, practice it every time you’re on the road.

One decision behind the wheel can change everything.
