WIXOM/DUCK LAKE/SLEETH INTERSECTION ON THE COMMERCE TWP./MILFORD TWP. BORDER TO CLOSE JUNE 12 FOR ROUNDABOUT CONSTRUCTION

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with Commerce Township and Milford Township, will close the Wixom Road/Wixom Trail/Sleeth Road/Duck Lake Road intersection on the border of the two communities starting Friday, June 12, to begin construction on RCOC’s 45th roundabout.
Roundabouts remain a key way that RCOC is reducing the number of traffic fatalities on its roads. RCOC has the largest concentration of roundabouts of any county in Michigan.
The approximately $2.2 million project will be funded by RCOC.
The detour route for the intersection during construction will be Glengary Road to Benstein Road to Sleeth Road to North Commerce Road to East Commerce Road and vice versa.
The work includes:
• Conversion of the existing two signalized intersections into a single, modern roundabout.
• Reconstruction of approximately 0.4 miles of road with asphalt paving and new curbs and gutters.
• Installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant pedestrian crosswalk on the east leg of the roundabout.
• Improvements to storm sewers and drainage.
• Installation of intersection lighting.
The contractor for the project is Angelo Iafrate Construction of Warren. The project is expected to be completed by late summer.
This intersection carries approximately 12,000 vehicles daily.
For more information on the project, visit the “Wixom Trail/Duck Lake Road/Sleeth Road Roundabout” page in the “Road Projects” section of the RCOC website, www.rcocweb.org (direct link: https://rcocweb.org/727/Wixom-RoadWixom-TrailDuck-Lake-RoadSleet

Special thanks to Keith at Great Lakes Golf Carts in Milford for this sweet addition to the MPD fleet. We police a lot of events in the Village and this is a perfect vehicle to help us navigate them. Now that warmer weather is upon us, you'll start to see it downtown. Although Lil' Craig wouldn't cooperate for a pose today, he loves to hop on and take a ride.

Two of our best were presented with MPD Lifesaving citations for their actions on a call in April 2026. Officers Ian Irwin (pictured left) and Jake Cote (pictured right) located a subject in a mental health crisis who was gravely injured. Based on their training and working as a team, these officers applied lifesaving techniques including the use of a tourniquet and other tactical medical interventions. Based on interviews with the doctor treating the subject, their actions directly saved this individual's life.

We are proud of their dedication to service and how they operated without hesitation.

Today, Sergeant Nicole Adams graduated the Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command, Class 629. This school consists of 10 weeks of executive leadership focused masters level coursework.

Now for the brag. Sgt. Adams was elected class president by her peers, adding several additional responsibilities to her plate during this session. Second, she was awarded the Franklin M. Kreml Leadership Award, as selected by her colleagues and instructors. This honor is awarded to those with “high ethical and professional values and dedication to public service”.

All of this while maintaining her work responsibilities and being a mom of three!

To say we are proud is an understatement. Please join us in congratulating Nicole!!!!
