🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice is the foundation of our freedom, and we honor them with gratitude and respect.

As the American flag waves high above our ladder truck, we stand united in remembrance — proud to serve, humbled by their legacy, and committed to carrying forward the spirit of duty and honor.

Five of our members dedicated their entire weekend to Fire School in Grand Island — all to sharpen the skills that keep our community safe. They trained in:

🔥 Live flashover and fire behavior simulations
🔥 Advanced SCBA techniques, including breathing control under high‑stress conditions
🔥 Specialized rescue and extrication skills for situations like children stuck in swings, ring removals, grain‑auger incidents, and more.

A huge thank‑you to these committed men and women for always stepping up for our community. Your dedication does not go unnoticed. 🙌

As we get into severe weather season it is important to know the difference in tones that go off in our community.

Tornado Siren: Long Steady Tone
Fire/Rescue: Alternating High/Low Tone

Just a reminder that the sirens will be tested at 9:00AM throughout the county tomorrow and the first Tuesday of every month until October.

Thank you to all those who attended the Milford Elementary PTO Carnival and stopped by to see us! Our firefighters had just as much fun as the kids did spraying the hoses. Looking forward to more events throughout the year!

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is recognized April 12-18, 2026. This is our chance to honor the men and women who answer the 911 calls and dispatch the needed resources, such as firefighters, EMS, and law enforcement.

Telecommunicators are the ones who hear the voices in an emergency, and begin managing the event immediately. They hear the crying, the terror, the anxiety; and sometimes, the silence. When it comes to these often life-changing events, it's the dispatchers who bring the calm reassurance that help is coming quickly, and stay on the phone to maintain that lifeline until responders arrive. We rely on them for quick and accurate information, and know they are always watching out for us on the other end of the radio.
We celebrate our telecommunicators this week, but we are thankful all year long for their dedication to serving the public. Nerves of steel, hearts of gold! Help us say THANK YOU Seward County 911!!!!
