JOB OPENING NOTICE
MES SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD
Milford City currently has a position available for School Crossing Guard at Milford Elementary. This position is classified as Permanent/Seasonal and reports to the City Administrator. Season begins mid-August and ends the end of May in accordance with the Beaver County School District School Calendar.
COMPENSATION: $25.00 per day ($12.50 per shift worked)
DUTIES: Monitors traffic at designated times Monday - Friday to assist school children safely across the street at designated patrol spot located at Milford Elementary School – See Job Description for full schedule
BENEFITS: This position does not qualify for benefits or Holiday Pay
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Must be able to perform all duties as identified below
• Must be able to cover the shifts as identified under the hours above
• Must be able to work in cold and warm weather conditions
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be flexible as the school schedule is adjusted for holidays and special events
• Must be reliable and able to work without supervision
• Must be friendly but possess the ability to use authority when required
• Must contact the Cross Walk Fill In immediately to make arrangements if not able to cover post at the designated time
• Learn the location and purpose of street traffic signs within the assigned patrol areas
• Place traffic safety cones within the patrol areas at the beginning of each shift
• Remove traffic safety cones within the patrol areas at the end of each shift
• Assist children and pedestrians in the safe crossing of streets to and from school, using stop signs and any other safety equipment provided by the city to be used to carry out the duties of patrol
• Report unsafe behavior of children to school officials in a timely manner
• Record license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals, and report infractions to appropriate authorities in a timely manner
• Responsible for the care, condition, and use of materials, equipment, and tools provided to carry out the requirements of the position
Milford Elementary School Pickup Enforcement
The Crosswalk Attendant's responsibilities are limited to assisting pedestrians and monitoring the designated crosswalk area to promote safe crossing. The Crosswalk Attendant is not responsible for directing traffic, enforcing school pickup procedures, or addressing parent compliance with pickup routes. Enforcement of school pickup policies and communication with parents regarding pickup route violations are the responsibility of the Elementary School Administration
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years old
Restrictions:
• The use of to***co products is strictly prohibited during shifts
• The use of telephones and other electronic devices should be restricted to communicating with school and city officials, or law enforcement, in regards to the functions of the job

• Regular and prompt attendance is essential
• Mental effort is required daily
• The job is performed outside and is subject to exposure to the elements: heat, cold, wet, and windy conditions
• The job involves walking and standing for extended periods of time
• Constant sight and hearing abilities are required to fulfill job responsibilities
