The Hockomock YMCA recently celebrated the individuals and organizations whose dedication, generosity, and service help strengthen the communities it serves.

Congratulations to the Greater Boston Food Bank, recipient of the Chair’s Award; MetroWest Health Foundation, recipient of the Don Rodman Character Counts Award; Red Triangle Award winners Ed Kinsley, Christina LaRose, and the Milford Youth Center; Youth of the Year recipients Jerome Abdelmalak, Juliano Abdelmalak, Cally Amara, and Camden Vialpando; and Dean College/YMCA Scholarship recipient Reina Bastista.

Thank you all for making a difference and helping bring the YMCA mission to life every day.

🥳Our End of the Year Party was the perfect way to wrap up another unforgettable year at the Milford Youth Center, but the absolute highlight was honoring our Youth Center Superlative winners! 🏆 These awards celebrate the unique personalities, kindness, leadership, and humor that our youth and staff bring to our space every single day. 💖 Congratulations to all the winners! 👏

🎉 Big congratulations to our Milford Youth Center Scholarship Winners! 🎓At our recent End of Year Party, we had the absolute honor of recognizing some truly incredible local students for their hard work, dedication, and leadership! 🙌Please join us in celebrating this year's amazing award recipients! 🥳 Jason Stokes was awarded the Steve Manguso Scholarship Award, selected personally by Steve Manguso himself! 🏅 Anthony Mastroianni received the Sandra Caproni Good Citizen Award, 🤝 and Caleb Ramnauth and Chloe Pierce were both awarded the Milford Youth Center (MYC) Scholarship/Grant! 💼We are so incredibly proud of all of you and can't wait to see the amazing things you'll accomplish next! 🚀

The MYC End of the Year Party was a blast and a HUGE success, with over 120 youth in attendance!

We filled the building with activities run by our wonderful staff; from a photo booth, indoor jumpy, and lawn games in the gym, to face painting and popsicles in the kitchen. We capped the evening off with Senior staff gifts and awards, plus superlatives for the kids voted on by staff. Finally, we also want to give a special shoutout to Fit Fun Carly for coming out and running an awesome nutrition program, and a massive thank you to Milford Regional Medical Center for their collaboration!

This year, we continued raffle prizes, 12 to be exact, for those who filled out a quick survey pertaining to After-School program preferences and suggestions for the 2026-2027 school year! If they participated, they were entered for a chance to win awesome prizes! Congrats to Avian and Skyla on the win!

Finally, we were so happy to award two graduating seniors our MYC Scholarship/Grant Award to Chloee Pierce and Caleb Ramnauth. In honor of dedicated, long-time board member and volunteer, Sandy Caproni, the scholarship named the “Sandra Caproni Good Citizen Award” recipient was Anthony Mastroianni.

Finally, the Steve Manguso Scholarship Award, created by former Board Member of twenty plus years, who continues to be dedicated to the Milford Youth Center, Steve Manguso; was awarded to Jason Stokes.

Thank you also to our Board Member, Gail Jussaume, who volunteered, as well as volunteers Judy Tusino, Jim Brevigleiri and Earl Wilson.

🙌Huge thanks to Leah and Maddie from Cornerstone at Milford for spreading some serious joy at the Center for National Donut Day! 🍩 Not only did they bless us with a box of donuts, but they also picked up their volunteer keychains! We love our community partners and volunteers. Thank you both so much! ✨

Each month, we thank an individual, business and/or organization who supports our efforts. This month, it is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Paul Mina, President and Chief Executive Officer of the United Way of Tri-County. We share our condolences with his family, friends, coworkers, and the vast community of individuals and partners that he helped support through all his efforts over the last 30 years with the United Way. This month, we choose to honor the extraordinary legacy of Paul Mina, whose unwavering commitment to the youth of Milford helped shape generations of lives through the Milford Youth Center.

For more than two decades, Paul and The United Way of Tri-County stood beside the Milford Youth Center as steadfast supporters, advocates, and partners. Recognizing the critical need for a permanent home for this invaluable program, Paul worked alongside the Milford Select Board to successfully lobby for the historic Milford Armory to be donated by the state for just $1.00, a milestone that made today’s Milford Youth Center possible.

Under Paul’s leadership, The United Way of Tri-County fully funded the Executive Director position for more than a decade and partnered with the Youth Commission to secure both immediate and long-term financial stability for the Center. Even today, the organization continues to serve as the fiduciary for the Youth Center, ensuring that community members and businesses can support its mission through charitable contributions.

Paul Mina’s vision, dedication and belief that every child deserves opportunity, regardless of financial circumstances, created a lasting impact that will continue for generations to come. We are deeply grateful for his leadership, compassion, and unwavering support of Milford’s youth.

His legacy lives on in every child empowered, every family supported, and every life changed through the Milford Youth Center! 🙏
