Today: Serves up to 34 (total) single men, single women and mothers with children in its 90-day temporary shelter, hundreds daily at its Soup Kitchen and assists an additional (2) single and (3) family households by providing case management services through its Supportive Housing collaborative. Our clients include; veterans, elderly and people working through unemployment, illness, catastrophic events, addictions and emotional problems

We are so grateful for each and every one of you who came out to spend the evening with us…

This year’s Evening to Honor Excellence set a record for attendance with 106 participants that raised $5,936 to support the programs and services at Beth-El Center!

Despite the passing rain storm, everyone enjoyed the festivities at the beautiful waterfront home of Dr. Gary Opin with Jay Rowe at his keyboard playing contemporary jazz.

It was extra special to be able to honor and celebrate our Community Stars with all of you — Pastor Roy Grubbs, Pastor Chris Files, Kaylyn Crawford and Kathleen Buchanan…

It truly wouldn’t have been the same without all of your smiling faces!

We can’t wait to see you again next year!

And an extra special thank you to Mark Arnold (from Milford City Lifestyle) who attended as a guest but brought his camera and was able to capture these incredible photos 📷.

Friends,

We have never seen so many individuals walk through our doors in search of hydration and a way to cool off.

We are currently running out of water.

We are down to two cases of bottled water and the heat is suffocating right now.

Guests, like Dustin, who speaks to you in the below video, need water to stay hydrated as they navigate living in places not meant for human habitation.

Our Cooling Center has held over a hundred different guests over the past 48 hours. This steep increase is a reflection of our unsheltered homeless population growing drastically over the past year.

Our unsheltered homeless community wants to come inside. They are on shelter wait lists of 4-5 months. There is simply not enough space to keep up with need.

For now, one of the best ways our Outreach Team can support them is by making sure folks like Dustin have enough water to get through the sweltering heat. It is essential for survival.

If you are able to drop off a case of water it would mean the absolute world to us and to them.

We have seen a lot of new faces and we want to continue to be able to provide life-sustaining hydration to each and every man, woman, and veteran who walks through our doors knowing that they can’t spend the night.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Our Extreme Weather Protocol has been activated due to the Heat Wave that is now upon us.

Our Community Kitchen has been turned into a Cooling Center beginning right now until 6PM this evening and lasting every day through Sunday from 8am to 6pm.

During this time, ANY community member who seeks relief from the heat is welcome!

Our goal is to keep guests hydrated while they take advantage of our air-conditioned environment to stay cool!

If you are able to donate any of the below items to make sure every single individual who walks through our doors is met with water or an electrolyte drink, it would be truly incredible!

We are once again asking for your help.

Our Extreme Weather Protocol has been activated due to the Heat Wave that is now upon us. (There will be a follow up post to this requesting specific items for our Cooling Center which begins now and lasts through Sunday… but this post is for those who are unsheltered and sleeping outside)

Our friends living outdoors need our help.

We are in the middle of one of the most aggressive tick seasons we have seen in the state of Connecticut. Mosquitoes are out. Our unsheltered men, women, and veterans are in desperate need of bug spray.

They are also in desperate need of bottled water and reusable water bottles in order to stay hydrated during this heat wave. Heat kills and is extremely dangerous.

In order to wash their clothes, our unsheltered community has been using garbage bags and they are ripping. Mesh laundry bags will allow them to transport clothes and maintain a sense of dignity.

Men’s socks in size LARGE for warm weather would be beyond helpful.

And tarps protect them from the elements.

These men and women are surviving extreme conditions.

Thank you for helping them… It means EVERYTHING to know you care.

This Wish List supports the individuals who are currently unsheltered and continuing to rebuild stability after one of the harshest winters Connecticut has ever seen.

These men and women have survived extreme conditions.

Many of them are still navigating encampments and relying on street outreach.

These items go directly toward helping them survive and move through the day safely and with dignity.

In addition to the below “Immediate Needs”, we also have a few “Hopeful Needs”:

These “Hopeful Needs” will go directly toward helping individuals who lost their precious belongings during the harsh winter storms rebuild.
