Students in the Labor & Industry’s OVR My Work program concluded their four week work experience by completing the fencing around the Mill Hall Community Park and installing a new child's riding toy. On their final day, they attended a small celebration with family at the park where the students gave a speech on their experience. The My Work initiative employs high school students with disabilities. MY Work assists students in developing independent living skills, enhancing their communication abilities, managing their paychecks, and much more. The wages for all student workers in the MY Work program are funded by OVR, which means there is no expense for the municipality.

Students in the Labor & Industry’s OVR My Work program were busy this week continuing with the beautification of the Mill Hall Community Park by painting the fencing around the park. Mill Hall Borough Council appreciates all their hard work.

The My Work initiative employs high school students with disabilities. MY Work assists students in developing independent living skills, enhancing their communication abilities, managing their paychecks, and much more. HEAT ADVISORY / COOLING LOCATION AVAILABLE IN MHB
Jarrett Bower will be opening the Mill Hall Volunteer Fire Department as a cooling shelter Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, if needed. Anyone needing relief from the heat or assistance with cooling arrangements can contact: 570-295-6491

Heat Safety Tips:
• Stay Hydrated
• Stay indoors or in air conditioning when possible
• Wear lightweight clothing
• Limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat
• Never leave children or pets in vehicles
• Check on neighbors, older adults, infants, and those with chronic medical conditions, as they are most vulnerable to extreme heat.

Mill Hall Borough is collaborating with Labor & Industry’s OVR MY Work program. This initiative employs students through MY Work, a summer program designed for high school students with disabilities. The wages for all student workers in the MY Work program are funded by OVR, which means there is no expense for the municipality. MY Work assists students in developing independent living skills, enhancing their communication abilities, managing their paychecks, and much more. This week, students worked on placing new mulch at the playground areas in the Mill Hall Community Park and staining picnic tables.
