Millbury Police Arrest Suspect in Central Cemetery Incident

Millbury, MA — The Millbury Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with an incident that occurred at Central Cemetery in which multiple female victims reported that a male exposed himself.

On the evening of August 5, 2026, Nicholas Gomes, 24, of Millbury, was placed under arrest by members of the Worcester Police Department following an investigation conducted by the Millbury Police Department.

Gomes has been charged with:

Two (2) counts of Open and Gross Lewdness

The Millbury Police Department would like to thank the Worcester Police Department for their assistance in locating and arresting the suspect, as well as members of the public who provided information that assisted investigators during this case.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with additional information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Millbury Police Department at 508-865-3521.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

What an incredible weekend for the 2026 Pan-Mass Challenge! 🚴💛

Millbury was proud to welcome the thousands of dedicated riders who passed through our community, all united in the fight to raise funds for lifesaving cancer research and treatment. The energy, determination, and spirit of every cyclist were truly inspiring.

A heartfelt thank you to our fire, EMS, volunteers, local businesses, and residents for helping make the event a success. Your support and patience ensured a safe and welcoming experience for everyone.

Congratulations to all the riders on an amazing accomplishment, and thank you for making a difference. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

🚨….We have received a report from a resident who received two phone calls that displayed 508-865-4710 on the caller ID. The caller claimed to be from the Town Manager's Office at Millbury Town Hall and asked the resident to verify their Social Security number.

Please be aware that Millbury Town Hall will never call and ask you to verify your Social Security number over the phone. If you receive a call like this, do not provide any personal information. Hang up immediately.🚨

The 2026 Pan-Mass Challenge rides through Millbury this Saturday, August 1!

Riders will depart from Holy Cross College at approximately 6:00 a.m. and are expected to begin passing through Millbury around 6:30 a.m.

The route through town will be:
📍 Greenwood Street → Old Common → Carleton Road → West Main Street → Elm Street → Canal Street

Millbury Police officers will be stationed along the route to help ensure rider safety and assist with traffic. Approximately 2,500 cyclists are expected to pass through town, so motorists should anticipate delays and temporary traffic slowdowns during the event.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep everyone safe. Best of luck to all of the Pan-Mass Challenge riders, and thank you for supporting this incredible event!

Y’ all ready for this ?!?! In celebration of Jock Jams being released 31 years ago this Month; The Millbury Police Department recorded our own compilation last night. Chief Brian Lewos, with the help of our brand new Town Clerk Nicole Levay-O’Brien, released a chart topping line up of hires and promotions. Please help us welcoming Officer Michael Carville (transfer from the Uxbridge Police Department) and Officer Jordan Carroll (transfer from the Shrewsbury Police Department) !

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE: West Main Street between Rhodes Street and Gould Street is closed while the water company performs emergency work across the roadway. Access up to #86 West Main Street is available to residents and businesses from the rotary at 146. Please use Elmwood to Beach or Elmwood to Carlton to West Main to get to the other side until 1 lane can be opened safely. This is not anticipated to last more than today. Police are standing by at both ends for assistance. We expect minor delays as this necessary work is completed. Thank you for the help in avoiding the area and seeking an alternate route.
