Today we pause to honor the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform and given so much in service to our country.

I had the privilege of meeting many veterans during the campaign, including Mr. Henry, whose quiet strength and sense of duty left a lasting impression on me. He passed away before this Veterans Day, but his spirit — and the sacrifice of all who’ve served — reminds us that our gratitude cannot be limited to one day a year.

Our veterans put everything on the line for us. We owe it to them to fight just as hard here at home — for the care, dignity, and opportunity they deserve.

Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve. Your courage and commitment make our community, and our country, stronger.

Though tonight’s results weren’t what we hoped for, I couldn’t be prouder of the heart we poured into this campaign. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who believed in our message—and my sincere congratulations and best wishes to Mayor Copelan and City Council as they continue their work for Milledgeville.

Emilie and I had a blast downtown this morning at the Milledgeville Main Street Trick-or-Treat event! We had so much fun passing out candy and seeing so many kids (and parents!) in their awesome costumes. We went through another 15 lbs of candy in record time and will be restocking for another round of events tonight!

There’s nothing better than a morning filled with sunshine, smiles and community.

𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 – 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆

This morning, I attended the Home Dedication ceremony for the newest Habitat for Humanity Milledgeville-Baldwin County home built here in the city. As the only city official in attendance, I was asked to step in and lead the Litany of Dedication call and response. It was a truly humbling experience and a powerful reminder of the profound impact we can have when we come together with compassion and purpose.

In that moment, surrounded by volunteers, neighbors, and the family whose lives will be changed by this home, I was reminded once again that Milledgeville’s strength is its people. This project is an embodiment of how we can shape a stronger, more connected Milledgeville one act of service at a time.

A heartfelt thank you to all the partners who supported this project: the Georgia Department of Community Affairs’ Community HOME Investment Program, Publix Charities, State Farm, Georgia Power, Women Build Team: Exchange Bank, and the many members of the Georgia College & State University community, including the Honors College, Alpha Tau Omega, Recreation Center staff, Athletic Department, Leadership Program, Women’s Rugby Team, Resident’s Life, and the Pre-PA Club—along with the extended family and friends of the Coffee family.

𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲: 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

Leadership starts with service. It’s not about titles or photo ops — it’s about showing up, pitching in, and putting people first. Whether it’s mentoring young people, volunteering at community events, or lending a hand wherever it’s needed, I’ve always believed that true leadership means being willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside your community.

That’s the kind of leadership I’ll bring to City Hall — not a Mayor who watches from the sidelines, but one who asks, “What can I do to help?” and then takes action!

There are only two days left of early voting, and I'm asking for your support and most importantly, your vote. It's time for change! Let's choose a Mayor who is dedicated to rolling up their sleeves and serving our entire community with humility, purpose, and heart. Let’s make it count!

𝗚𝗖 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 — 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀

Today I had the chance to speak with students in the Georgia College Early College Government class — and what an awesome group they are! I really enjoyed sharing my experiences in local government and talking about the importance of public service, civic engagement, and community leadership.

These students asked great questions about how city decisions get made and how policies affect everyday life here in Milledgeville. It’s always encouraging to see young people so engaged and eager to learn about their community.

Building a stronger Milledgeville starts with listening, learning, and investing in the next generation of leaders. Thanks to the students and instructors for such a warm welcome — I can’t wait to see the impact they’ll have on our community in the years ahead!

🎃 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕. 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸! 👻

What an incredible evening at Bodyplex’s 5th Annual Trunk or Treat! We handed out more than 40 pounds of candy, shared extra bags with kids who needed them, and had some great conversations with parents along the way.

Seeing so many families, creative costumes, and smiling faces reminded me once again why I love this community so much. Thanks to Bodyplex and everyone who came out to make it such a fun, festive night!

𝗣𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀

𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧: Over the last couple of days, we’ve spoken directly with several local food pantries and families who are deeply concerned about what the ongoing federal shutdown could mean for November—especially the possibility of disruptions to SNAP benefits and the food resources many of our neighbors rely on. Some of our local pantries have already seen more than 200 families come through their doors in a single day.

Out of respect for this moment and the challenges our neighbors are facing, we are making the decision to pause all campaign fundraising and are encouraging supporters to give instead to the local food pantries working tirelessly to meet this urgent need. When uncertainty grows and resources shrink, it’s up to us to show what community truly means. Together, we can make sure no child or family in Milledgeville goes without the support they need right now.

🛒 Please consider donating directly to one of our local food pantries — even a modest financial contribution or a few canned goods make a difference. Venison and game meat that has been processed and packaged may also be accepted. Here’s a list of local organizations and information on how to give. If you are aware of others, drop them in the comments.
