MILLER PLACE VARSITY SOFTBALL CAPTURED ITS THIRD CONSECUTIVE CLASS A SUFFOLK COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

The Panthers defeated Kings Park in two elimination games 9-1 and 8-6 on back-to-back days. They will move on to the Long Island championships next Saturday, June 6th against Wantagh.

MILLER PLACE SCHOOL DISTRICT EARNS TOP HONORS AT SUFFOLK COUNTY WRESTLING AWARDS DINNER

At the 53rd Annual Suffolk County Wrestling Awards Banquet, Miller Place received several awards. Miller Place Athletic Director Ron Petrie was named Suffolk County Wrestling’s Administrators of the Year. The Miller Place Panthers Varsity Wrestling Team was honored as Suffolk County’s “Most Improved Team” for the 2026 season. In addition, the Panthers were recognized as Suffolk County’s only Wrestling State Champion Team. Varsity Head Coach Matt Kaszubski earned League VII and Suffolk County Division II Coach of the Year honors. Assistant Coach Dan Cassera was named League VII Varsity Assistant Coach of the Year, while JV Coaches Chris Bold and Domenico Lo Re were recognized as the League VII JV Coaches of the Year. Miller Place Varsity wrestlers Alex Southworth, Reese Z***r, and Christian Caccavale were each honored as three of Suffolk County Wrestling’s Top 21 Scholar Athletes. Alex earned a scholarship from the Suffolk County Wrestling Coaches Association, while Reese and Christian received scholarships from the Suffolk County Wrestling Officials Association.

MILLER PLACE SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION TRUSTEE EARNS FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP

Miller Place School District Board of Education Trustee Jennifer Keller has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship. The scholarship is a professional learning framework designed to equip educators with the skills to bring an international perspective into their local schools, ultimately preparing students for an interconnected global community. Through this scholarship, Ms. Keller will serve as a citizen diplomat dedicated to advancing global competency by building international bridges and bringing a global perspective to her school and community. Ms. Keller is a Social Studies Teacher at Smithtown High School West.

MILLER PLACE SCHOOL DISTRICT CELEBRATES STUDENT ATHLETES FOR COLLEGIATE SIGNINGS OF NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT

Miller Place School District recently held a National Letter of Intent signing for eleven student athletes who will continue their athletic & academic careers after graduation. The student athletes are pictured below wearing shirts with their respective college logos as they made their individual college decisions.

MILLER PLACE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS PARTICIPATE IN VOTER INFORMATION PROGRAM

Miller Place High School seniors participated in the Voter Information Program offered through the Suffolk County Board of Elections. Students learned about the voting process as they were educated on the importance of civic engagement, the mechanics of casting a ballot and the significance of participating in our democratic society. Students had the opportunity to cast mock ballots, simulating the voting experience. Additionally, students had the option to register to vote.

LADDIE A. DECKER SOUND BEACH SCHOOL FIFTH GRADE STUDENT RECIPIENT OF THE 2026 SUFFOLK COUNTY YOUTH AWARD FOR THE SIXTH DISTRICT

Teagan Hempfling was honored by the Suffolk County Legislature as the Sixth Legislative District recipient of the 2026 Suffolk County Youth Award. He also received a proclamation from Legislator Chad Lennon, for his community service, leadership, dedication to helping others, and for serving as a positive role model both in school and throughout the community. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney recognized Teagan for displaying exemplary conduct.

One of the accomplishments highlighted during the ceremony was Teagan’s participation in the 66-mile walk to raise awareness for and veteran and military su***de prevention. Teagan is passionate about supporting veterans/military and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

NORTH COUNTRY ROAD MIDDLE SCHOOL SIXTH-GRADE STUDENTS ATTEND A SPECIAL PRESENTATION ABOUT SERVICE DOGS

North Country Road Middle School sixth-grade students had the opportunity to attend a special presentation by classmate, Clara Fasano, who was joined by her service dogs, Pismo and Shay. This engaging and interactive assembly provided students with a meaningful look at the important role service animals play in supporting individuals.

During the presentation, students learned how service dogs are trained to assist with specific needs, support independence, and provide both physical and emotional assistance to their handlers. Clara Fasano also shared personal experiences that helped illustrate the real-life impact of working with service animals.
