✈ Look to the sky this week! Holmes Soil & Water Conservation District will be flying on cover crops. There is even a photo contest to enter for whomever gets the best photo of the yellow and blue plane!

Our 2026 Cover Crop Fly-On will coming to a field near you soon! Keep an eye on the skies for the yellow and blue planes winging their way over Holmes County. On Wednesday, September 2nd and Thursday the 3rd, Fisher Ag will be applying aerial cover crop seed to local fields. There's no need to be alarmed, just sit back and enjoy the show! And new this year, we will be having a Fly-On Photo Contest so grab your camera and take some pictures of the swooping and diving planes and then share them with us for a chance to win a fun prize. We can't wait to see your amazing photos!

Thank you to everyone who joined Kate for canner testing this week! Events were held at both Mt Hope Hardware as well as Lehman's. We had great attendance!

Kate Shumaker is the Family and Consumer Science Educator at our office. One of several community events she holds is pressure canner safety testing. Home food preservation is a skill many in our area utilize, but it must be done safely. Kate not only checks your canner, she can guide you with repairs that may be found during this safety check.

If you feel like your canner may need tested we still have 2 more dates available this fall. Monday, September 21st from Noon-4pm at The Keim Company and Tuesday, September 22nd from 9am-1pm at Double F Event Center.

We still can help if you cannot make one of these dates. Canner testing is always available by appointment in the Holmes County Extension Office for a $5. Call 330-674-3015 to schedule an appointment.
