If you are a nonprofit leader that serves Holmes County, we'd love to have you attend this free event at Jitter's Coffeehouse on April 9th at 2:00 PM. Roger Proper, attorney at Critchfield, is going to talk to us about how to run an effective Ohio board meeting. You'll learn about when motions are required, what items need approved and what should be accepted instead, when to use unanimous consent, and more. Feel free to bring a board member along! For more information, email Holley Johnson at [email protected]. Hope to see you there!

Giving directly to a charity is always meaningful—but a Donor Advised Fund at the Holmes County Foundation can make your giving even more powerful. You can use cash, stock, or other assets to create a named fund that makes it easy for you to support the causes you care about most.

With a Donor Advised Fund you can:
✔ Make one gift and support multiple charities over time
✔ Receive an immediate tax deduction while deciding later which nonprofits to support
✔ Allow your charitable dollars to be invested and grow before granting them out
✔ Keep your giving organized in one place instead of tracking many donations

It’s a simple, flexible way to maximize your impact and support the causes you care about most—both now and in the future.

Contact the Foundation to learn how easy it is to start your own Donor Advised Fund. [email protected] or 330-674-7303

The Holmes County Education & Community Foundation is excited to announce the Viola Startzman Holmes County Fund for Primary and Mental Healthcare, a new fund dedicated to helping Holmes County residents access affordable primary and mental healthcare.

In 2025, the Viola Startzman Clinic provided over $100,000 in charitable care to Holmes County residents, and nearly 1,000 local patients rely on their services. Their Holmes County clinic is open on Wednesdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and is located across from Millersburg Tire. Patients without insurance are seen free of charge.

By establishing a fund with the Holmes County Community Foundation, residents and businesses can help neighbors get the care they need.💙

Consider making a gift to the fund and help ensure that quality healthcare remains accessible for Holmes County families—now and for years to come. Visit www.hcef.net/giving

We’re often asked, “What’s the best way to give through the foundation?”

One option is to create a fund that supports the causes you care about most. But if you’re looking for a way to meet Holmes County’s most urgent needs—both today and in the future—the Community Impact Fund is a great place to start.

This fund allows us to respond as needs arise, providing grants to local nonprofits making the greatest impact across Holmes County. What does generosity look like in Holmes County?

It looks like neighbors stepping up.
It looks like leadership that listens and acts.
It looks like building something that lasts.

In 2026, the Holmes County Education & Community Foundation remains committed to inspiring generosity by connecting philanthropic resources with essential needs, helping solve community challenges, and creating assets that strengthen our future.

Together, we’re continuing to build a better Holmes County—now and for generations to come.
