There has recently been some confusion regarding the Sumner County Libraries. The Library Board has released the following statement:
"Prior to August of 2021, the libraries of Sumner County operated as five independent libraries under Sumner County’s direction.
August 2021, the libraries were united under a single system of management with an Executive Director in place. The Library Board is examining options to transfer funds from a system account and return to the former system allowing each individual director to return to managing its own budget.
Sumner County Libraries are a valuable asset to our county.
The item on the budget committee agenda has been revised to read
Discussion to restore the libraries to former organization of independent libraries of Sumner County."

Thank you to Commissioner Ben Harris for stopping by the Gallatin Public Library of Sumner County this past Monday during Trick or Treat on the Square. The GPL also had a blast welcoming Commissioner Terri Boyt as part of the candy-team. We appreciate you both!

Congratulations to Tallen Haag for winning the Tennesseans for Student Success (TSS) Tristar Reads contest for middle school! This is the SECOND time she's won this incredible award (which includes a college scholarship), as she also won several years ago in the elementary school division.

Tallen considers the Portland Public Library of Sumner County to be her home base and has also used several other libraries within the SCLS system. We're SO glad to have her as part of the community!

Buddy had a busy Saturday, beginning at the Hendersonville Public Library of Sumner County’s Friends Booksale and ending at the Gallatin Public Library of Sumner County to check out Main Street Festival - where he found a kindred spirit. He’s positively smitten!

We are excited to announce that the Sumner County Library Board of Trustees is seeking an applicant to join the board representing the Millersville community. This role is well-suited to those who are passionate about the local library system, dedicated to our community, and excited to learn more about how the libraries function within Sumner County. Applications are due by Friday, September 30th, so don't delay - we'd love to hear from you!
