Share the Bounty

Share the Bounty Share the Bounty strives to make fresh, local produce available to everyone, regardless of income.

The Millerton Farmer’s Market and the North East Community Center are partnering with the Millerton Food Pantry so that low-income families can share in the wealth of healthy fruits and vegetables available in our area during harvest season. Starting in July, when many backyard gardeners have more produce than they can use themselves, the Share the Bounty project will be accepting donations of fre

sh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs for distribution to in-need area residents. Local food pantries do an excellent job of making sure that residents who struggle financially don’t go hungry, but is isn’t usually feasible for them to collect and distribute fresh food because of its short shelf life. The result is that low-income families’ access to the freshest, most nutritious food is limited. Share the Bounty strives to increase access to the freshest, most nutritious foods. Share the Bounty's page is a place where local growers can trade goods and services and share gardening tips and recipes. It is a forum for local growers, as well as a place where Share the Bounty recipients can ask questions directly to local growers about preparing the food they receive or growing their own produce.
