At 2:35am Millgrove was dispatched to Walden Ave between Zoeller and Townline roads, for the reported head on tractor trailer accident. The wreck caused extreme damage to both trucks but miraculously both drivers walked away with minor injuries. The NYS DEC spill response was called in due to a ruptured diesel tank. We would like to thank our brothers and sisters at Crittenden Fire for providing mutual aid Road Closure. Units were clear of the scene in approximately 3hours. The road remained closed after we left the scene while tow operators cleared the wreckage.

Last night at 00:05am, Millgrove along with its thruway mutual aid Bowmansville responded to a report of a tractor trailer fire in the area of MM409. A tractor trailer fire on the thruway brings automatic water and manpower concerns. After IC was established by our Chief, it was determined that a large amount of those said resources would be needed. The truck cab was fully involved and had caught the trailer on fire which was carrying individual bales of corrugated cardboard, each weighing approximately 7-8k pounds. It took approximately 4.5 hours to not only extinguish the deep seated fire but also gain access to the bales so they could be properly removed and extinguished. We would like to thank the countless departments who were on scene or stood by throughout the night while we tackled such a challenging incident.
Companies On scene: Millgrove, Bowmansville, Crittenden, Clarence, Hyview, Pembroke Indian Falls NYS police, NYS thruway authority, Rusiniaks Towing.
Companies who provided station fill in: Harris Hill (bowmansville), Alden and Newstead (Millgrove).
Again thank you to all of the above for you’re hard work!!

Saturday Millgrove Firefighters were given a well deserved evening off courtesy of the Chiefs. Members were treated to dinner cooked by the chief, A kids zone for our children to play which included a massive Bounce house DONATED by PIG BELLY ENTERTAINMENT(check out their website the selection of rentals they offer is off the charts!) Then a Lawn Mower Demo Derby driven by 10 of our members! It was a hard fought battle but in the End Lieutenant Pat Manning bested Chief Krawczyk with a head on kill shot! Third place was awarded to Lieutenant Nick Sczepetyk. We ended the evening with song and dance around a warm bonfire. We’ve had a few incredibly busy months(by our standards) and it was a well deserved night of rest and team building! Thank you to Crittenden Fire for covering our residents while we enjoyed the night! Come join this team of legendary people, you won’t find a better group!!!!!

There are times that you become speechless by the kindness, generosity, and incredible support of the EMS community. Today was one of those days.

There aren’t enough words to encompass how important this donation by the Millgrove Volunteer Fire Department is to the National EMS Memorial Service’s mission of honoring and recognizing our EMS and air medical colleagues who have paid the ultimate price in the service to others.

Thank you all and God bless each of you. We are incredibly grateful ❤️

***Incoming Fun Contest***
Our Chief has invested heavily into our junior program over the last year and a half! Getting our young involved in what we do is necessary for our and every fire departments future! With that being said we are always looking for ways to steer the youth in our fire disctrict in our direction! The chief has come up with a new fun thing to try that will do just that:
Introducing our First Annual “Lemonade stand Outing”! Essentially we are looking for the young kids (in our district only) to assemble a lemonade stand that we will stop at with our firetrucks and buy a cup of lemonade from your children and our members will vote on their three catagories: Quality of lemonade, “bang for our buck” and creativity. Once we have visited all stands the members will return to the fire station and vote for best overall! The best lemonade stand will recieve a 100$ Walmart shopping Spree courtesy of the fire chief! Rules are simple… stand must be in operation during the scheduled time of the event. No item at the stand can be for over .50 cents USD. What else you put in stand and how flashy you make it is up to you! The event will occur a week from today… Sunday July 23rd from 5-7pm! If your kids are interested in this fun event please sign up by calling or texting the chief at 716-597-7123 signups will be open until Saturday July 22nd! we will then compile a map of where the stand will be. We are hoping for a huge turnout and are very thirsty!!! Let’s grow as a community!!!!

We had a huge turnout for the lancaster Independence Day parade! Look out and wave to our 4 apparatus in the parade!

For public awareness only:
Courtesy of a gracious property owner, Millgrove has aquired a residence on Westwood Rd for fire training purposes. Starting tonight and through the month of July into august it will be used regularly for training purposes by not just us but other local departments. We wanted it to be known to all so that way if coming down Westwood Rd in the vicinity of DD’s ranch you may randomly encounter parked fire apparatus, fire police (if needed) and simulated smoke emitting from the structure. This will be routine and there is no cause for concern! Training on live structures is a rare thing to get and is some of the most invaluable training not only us but our other local fire departments will ever get! Thank you.

***VOLUNTEERS DESPERATELY NEEDED***
There is need for immediate assistance with staffing and running the warming shelter at town line Lutheran church. We understand it’s Christmas Eve, what better gift then that of service! If you can help even briefly please contact the town of alden disaster coordinator at 716-432-3775. Please help!

12/24/2022

We have closed the warming shelter as the town of alden has consolidated them to the Townline Lutheran church on townline road. With our response returning to normal the Chief has elected to send our crews home to be with their families for Christmas. Our crew amount varied but approximately 10-15 members stood by over a 28hour period. Over that time we responded to multiple accidents. Multiple vehicle rescues. A mutual aid commercial structure fire. And a mutual aid first aid response. Crews only recieved an hour or two of rest during that period. At the height of our shelter we had somewhere between 60-70 people estimated to be seeking shelter… most of which were personally rescued by your MILLGROVE firefighters. Their hard work and dedication was unmatched and certainly made their community proud. Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!

12/24/2022

5:40am Update: our members have spent the better part of the night making rescues of stranded motorists. Most if not all roads in our district are impassable to all our apparatus. We managed to recover approx 40 stranded motorist shuttling them a few at a time and providing them shelter within our station. Ages range from 2yrs old to elderly. Our members here at the station are tired but a “break in the action” has allowed all to catch at least a couple hours of sleep. Daylight will bring more hard work.

12/24/2022

We have lost all cable phone and internet at our station.. any NON EMERGENCY calls please direct them to the chiefs cell at 716-597-7123 thank you!

12/24/2022

We have opened as a warming shelter and have been removing people stranded on the road including young kids. We are in desperate need of extra food resources to help feed all the people we’ve brought in which as of this writing is over 15. If you are in the close vicinity to the fire station we will gladly send a crew to come get it from you. Bread..milk.. cheese… soup.. and frozen items are most needed. Please contact the chief at 716-597-7123 if you can help. Again we will come gladly retrieve it from you. Thank you and stay safe!

Please use all of today to prepare. Make sure all your equipment is fueled up with full cans to spare. Make sure you have enough food to go at least 3 full days. This is serious folks! Prepare to possibly be snowed in long duration.

A Blizzard Warning was issued for the Niagara Frontier, including the Buffalo Metro area. Lake effect snow, strong wind, blowing snow, and -10 to -25 wind chills will follow a frontal passage Friday. Travel will be difficult to impossible Friday through much of Christmas weekend.

12/21/2022

As most of you already know, a possibly historic storm is set to directly impact us starting Friday afternoon and lasting into the afternoon Saturday. With that in mind we have elected to staff our station from the hours of 8pm Friday to at least 12pm Saturday. This means we will have a crew ready to go at a moments notice to alleviate the time needed for members to respond to the station. Please dial 911 for all emergencies. Should you have any non-emergent requests you may call our station during that time at 716-937-7612…. Remember to plan accordingly for this storm and if you have to run a generator, you do so in a safe open air location. Stay safe and Happy Holidays!

Wishing all our community, friends, and family a safe, peaceful, and blessed Christmas.
