Naval History and Heritage Command visited Lake Champlain Maritime Museum during to give a deep dive on how the U.S. Navy recovered a Howell Torpedo, which was lost at sea in 1899, with the help of specially trained dolphins! 🐬⚓

It's official!

I’ve proclaimed this week as Navy Week here in Vermont, as we’re one of just 12 communities nationwide selected to host.

Vermonters take great pride in supporting the fast-attack submarines, the USS Vermont and USS Montpelier, and the Military Sealift Command’s fast expeditionary transport ship, USNS Burlington.

We’re proud to welcome the Navy to Vermont and are grateful for all the sailors who have stepped up to serve our country.

Navy Band Northeast is in Burlington for and they’re playing tunes all week long! They’ll be playing at Church Street Marketplace tomorrow from 6 to 7 PM. Be sure to catch them before the week is up!

Established in 1974 and based on board Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island, Navy Band Northeast is one of 11 official U.S. Navy bands worldwide. Their primary musical ensembles include marching and ceremonial bands, the Pops Ensemble concert band, Rhode Island Sound popular music group, Jack Tar Brass Band, Trident Brass and Crosswinds Woodwind chamber quintets, and various protocol ensembles.

U.S. Navy Aerographer’s Mates (AG) assigned to Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command were given a tour of National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office Burlington during !

AGs are experts in meteorology and oceanography. They use skills in science and math to calculate weather patterns, analyze data and distribute forecasts to ships and squadrons around the world, providing accurate measures of air pressure, temperature, wind speed and sea state.
