A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the Millington Police Department’s first Car Seat Safety Event at the Baker Community Center on Aug. 29 such a success!

We are incredibly grateful to the Millington Tennessee Police Department, Covington Tennessee Police Department, BARTLETT POLICE DEPARTMENT, Oakland TN Police Department, and Collierville Police Department for coming together to help keep our youngest passengers safe.

We also want to thank Shon Teezy from HOT 107.1 for providing exceptional music and Sherrick Malone, also known as Wonderkid, who made the day even more special by providing FREE haircuts for kids attending the event!

A very special thank you goes to our own Millington Police Officers, Officer Smith and Officer Calhoun, whose hard work, planning, and dedication made this event everything we hoped it would be and more. Your commitment to our community and the safety of our children truly showed throughout the day.

Most importantly, thank you to every parent, caregiver, and family who came out to make sure their children had the proper car seat or booster seat and that it was installed correctly. Taking a little extra time to make sure your child is properly secured can make all the difference.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Car Seat Safety Event a success and for working together to keep Millington’s littlest residents safe!

History is taking flight right here in Millington!

The CAF AirPower History Tour is at the Millington-Memphis Airport through Sunday, Aug. 23, bringing an incredible collection of historic World War II aircraft to our community.

One of the highlights of the tour is “FIFI,” one of the world’s few remaining flying B-29 Superfortresses. Visitors will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at this legendary aircraft, along with other classic warbirds including the T-6 Texan, PT-13 Stearman, RC-45J, and B-25 Mitchell.

Cockpit tours of the B-29 are available beginning at 9 a.m. on weekdays and at noon on Saturday and Sunday. Aircraft rides are also available and may be booked in advance.

This is a unique opportunity to experience aviation history up close and see aircraft that helped shape our nation’s history right here in Millington!

Parents, grandparents, and unprepared uncles like me, this is a good one to know about.

Did you know a car seat that fits one vehicle may not fit another? Or that car seats actually have expiration dates?

Millington Tennessee Police Department has certified officers who can check your car seat and help make sure it is installed correctly. It’s available year round. Just call 901-873-5600 to schedule a time. Leave Karen a voicemail if she’s not at the desk.

They’re also holding a Car Seat Safety Event at Baker Community Center on August 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Shoutout to Officer Smith and Officer Calhoun for taking the time to get certified and provide this service to our families.

If you regularly have a little one riding with you, consider getting checked for peace of mind. Plus, you get to meet these guys!

🐾 FOUND DOG ALERT 🐾

We’ve got a temporary guest in our Millington, TN kennels. This pup was found near the 7600 block of US Highway 51 and is glad to be off the street, but we’re sure they’re wondering if their owner is looking for them.

If this could be your friend, please reach out to the Millington Police Department at our non-emergency number (901-872-3333) for more details.

Within 24–48 hours, the dog will be turned over to our friends and partners at the Shelby County Health Department and transported to Memphis Animal Services.

Shoutout to Shon Teezy for recognizing Officer Anthony Smith on HOT 107.1 for his outstanding community outreach.

It was great to see the two connect at the 7th Annual Back to School Bash at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. They’re making a difference in different ways, but with the same goal: a stronger community.

Keep up the great work, gentlemen. Our community is better because of leaders like you who pour back in.
