The mission of the Millis Police Department is to consistently find ways to promote, preserve, and deliver a sense of security, safety and quality of life to the people of Millis. To fulfill our mission, we are committed to:

A Message to Parents: E-Bike Safety in Millis 🚲⚠️

The Millis Police Department needs your partnership in keeping our community safe. With the surge of e-bikes around town, we are seeing increasing numbers of unsafe behaviors that put riders, pedestrians, and drivers at risk.

An e-bike is not a toy. Many reach speeds over 20 mph, and crashes can result in severe injuries. Parents, please take a moment to discuss safe riding with your kids and establish clear expectations.

How you can help:
🪖Helmets First: Ensure your child always wears a properly fitted helmet.
🚦Obey Traffic Laws: Remind them that e-bikes must follow all road signs, signals, and rules.
🛑No Reckless Riding: Ban speeding, weaving, riding against traffic, wheelies, carrying passengers, and using phones/headphones.
📏Right Fit & Limits: Ensure the bike matches your child’s age/experience, and set clear boundaries on where they can ride.

Our goal isn’t to hand out citations, it’s to prevent injuries before they happen. Officers will be conducting enforcement for unsafe behavior, but safety starts at home.

Today marked the final day of the 2026 Millis Police Leadership Academy.

Students started the morning with outdoor PT before learning about traffic enforcement and trying out radar guns. They also had the opportunity to spend time with therapy dogs and learn about the important role they play in supporting first responders and the community (best day ever?). The week concluded with a well-deserved graduation ceremony celebrating everything the students accomplished.

A sincere thank you to every officer, detective, sergeant, firefighter, K9 handler, member of the Metro LEC Marine Unit, MedFlight crew, and community partner who took the time to share their knowledge and experiences throughout the week. Your dedication made a lasting impact on our students.

Congratulations to the Leadership Academy Class of 2026. We hope this week provided a meaningful look at the many ways law enforcement serves the community and inspired the next generation of leaders. 👏🚓

Day 4 gave students a firsthand look at two specialized areas of law enforcement.

The morning was spent on the water with Detective Manganello, Officer Kaiser, and Officer Vongsavath, who introduced students to the Metro LEC Marine Unit and the boats, equipment, and teamwork required for marine operations. Back at the station, Sgt. Roy walked students through the department’s SWAT gear and explained the training and tools used during tactical responses.

Second to last full day of the Academy and we put the students to work. 🕵️‍♂️🕵️

They started the morning with PT outdoors before stepping into the role of detectives during a missing person demonstration. They followed the clues and learned more about the investigative process before heading to Tangerini’s Farm for a well-earned ice cream treat.

Another great day of learning and team building, this time with members of the community. 🚓

Day 2 of the Academy focused on teamwork and specialized public safety operations.🧑‍🚒

After starting the morning with PT, students spent time at the Millis Fire Department learning about the equipment, responsibilities, and coordination that go into emergency response. After lunch, students watched Officer Sullivan and K9 Nytro demonstrate how a police K9 is deployed to safely apprehend a suspect.

The afternoon concluded with some good old fashioned dodgeball. ☄️

Day 1 of the Millis Police Leadership Academy is in the books! 👏

Students kicked off the week with a station tour, PT, and a visit from the Air Wing before learning about MedFlight in the afternoon and wrapping up the day at the Town Hall gym.

A big thank you to Det. Manganello and Officer Kaiser for leading camp and helping make the first day a success! 🚓
