🌞 It’s a beautiful, warm afternoon for our Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail Program! πŸŸπŸ’¦

You do not need your own snorkel, and you do not have to snorkel to participate! There will be plenty of fun and educational activities for everyone, including those who prefer to stay out of the river. πŸŒΏπŸ”Ž

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ All ages are welcome!

πŸ“ Mills River Park – Boat Launch Area

Come join us for a fun afternoon of exploring, learning, and enjoying the river! We’d love to see you there! πŸ’™πŸŒŠ

We're so excited to bring back our Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail Program now that river access has reopened following the hurricane cleanup!

🌊 Come experience the Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail with us on Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00–5:30 PM!

The Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail is a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating underwater world of our mountain rivers. Guided by knowledgeable staff and volunteers, you'll snorkel in clear, shallow water to discover native fish, freshwater mussels, crayfish, and other aquatic life while learning about the incredible biodiversity of our local waterways.

πŸ“ Meet us at the boat launch and look for the Parks & Recreation tent.

🀿 We will have snorkel equipment available for those who don't have your own, so everyone can join the fun!

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ This program is for all ages! If snorkeling isn't for you, Aqua viewers will be available so everyone can enjoy viewing the underwater world without getting in the water.

🦺 If you are not a strong swimmer, please bring your own personal flotation device (PFD) so you can safely enjoy the experience.

This is a great opportunity for families, nature lovers, and anyone curious about what lives beneath the surface of the Mills River. We can't wait to welcome everyone back for another amazing afternoon on the river!

A special thank you to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, the Pisgah River Rangers, and the Mills River Partnership for helping make this incredible experience possible.

We hope to see you there!

A big thank you to Mills River Fire and Rescue for donating two AEDs to the Mills River Parks and Recreation Department!

One AED will be located in the Town Hall/Library building, and the other will be carried by our staff on golf carts throughout the park. Having an AED readily available can make a big difference in an emergency. When someone experiences cardiac arrest, every minute counts, and having an AED nearby can help save a life. We hope we never need to use them, but we’re grateful to have that option available if we ever do!

Thank you to Chief Travis, Captain Ballinger, Assistant Chief of Operations Munsey, and the rest of the Mills River Fire Department for the donation and for continuing to support our Parks and Recreation Department! πŸš’β€οΈ
