Stay safe during the upcoming winter storm, Millville! βοΈ Our EMS FMBA Local 363 union is here to remind you to be prepared. Here are some essential tips to help you and your family stay safe:
Before the Storm:
Charge your devices: Make sure your phones, laptops, and power banks are fully charged in case of power outages.
Stock up on essentials: Have a supply of food, water, medications, and pet supplies for at least 72 hours.
Emergency kit: Assemble a kit with flashlights, extra batteries, a first-aid kit, and a weather radio.
During the Storm:
Stay indoors: Limit travel to essential trips only. If you must go out, inform someone of your destination and expected return time.
Dress warmly: Wear layers of loose, light-weight clothing, a hat, gloves, and waterproof boots if you need to go outside.
Beware of carbon monoxide: If using alternative heating sources, ensure proper ventilation. Never use a generator or grill indoors.
Check on neighbors: Especially the elderly or those with medical conditions.
After the Storm:
Watch for ice: Be careful on walkways and driveways. Black ice can be nearly invisible.
Report outages: Contact your utility company to report any power outages.
Clear snow safely: If shoveling, take frequent breaks and lift with your legs, not your back.
Your safety is our priority. If you experience a medical emergency, please do not hesitate to call 911.
Stay warm, stay safe, Millville!
