Dipak Awasthi for Milpitas City Council 2024 Dipak Awasthi's journey in Milpitas began in 1996 when he and his family of four moved to the city. Dipak's commitment to Milpitas runs deep.

Starting out by sharing a small rented house with eight other family members, Dipak and his family embraced the community by living in different neighborhoods and working in customer service and retail for many years. Through hard work and determination, they eventually owned and operated a successful retail market, which they recently sold to pursue new opportunities. His children, both graduates

of Milpitas public schools, continued their education at San Jose State University and have since become professionals in IT and business. Today, Dipak's family is a reflection of Milpitas' diversity, with immediate and extended family members from various cultures, races, ethnicities, and religions. With four beloved grandchildren, Dipak values the inclusive and multicultural environment that Milpitas offers. Dipak has always been passionate about the future of Milpitas. He has served on the Sister Cities Commission, the Economic Development and Trade Commission, and currently holds a position on the Planning Commission. Dipak brings a wealth of experience, real business strategies, and a deep understanding of the community to his campaign for City Council. His success in business, jobs, and community initiatives is a testament to his capability to serve as a dedicated and effective Councilmember for the city of Milpitas.

As a former small business owner, I understand the importance of making smart financial decisions and managing budgets effectively. Homelessness Solutions
The city cannot fix homelessness alone. The solution lies in having collaborations with non profits, state, county and federal agencies. Private-Government partnerships should be explored where we can seek help from big companies for our vulnerable population. I will work proactively on all avenues to provide effective solutions to homelessness.

“There is a phrase called ‘kicking the can down the road,’” said Awasthi. “And now there is no road left. It’s called borrowing from the future. But the reality is that we are going into a deficit.”

Awasthi also feels that the current lawsuit involving the former city manager is draining tax dollars and should be settled immediately. “The lawsuit on the City may be investigated by the Grand Jury or the FBI due to the seriousness of the allegations being paid by tax dollars,” shared Awasthi.”
