This February, in honor of the 100th year of , our 2026 Black History Month Student Spotlights Series features some of our most outstanding middle and high school students of African Ancestry from throughout the district.

Akira Birdsong is a 17-year-old senior at Milpitas High School. Akira is a student leader in the Black Student Union who plans to pursue a career as an orthodontist.
