Our Recreation & Parks staff had the privilege of attending the annual Vermont Recreation & Parks Association Conference this week!

We each attended eight different breakout workshops, connected with recreation, parks, and trails professionals from across New England and beyond, and met with vendors to explore new ideas and opportunities for our community.

We were especially proud to have Selectboard member Betsy Paret join us! Betsy participated in workshops alongside our team and learned more about the important role recreation and parks play in strengthening communities, supporting public health and well-being, and contributing to local and statewide economic development.

Parks and recreation are about so much more than programs and green spaces. They help attract families and businesses, support tourism and local businesses, enhance quality of life, and make our communities more vibrant places to live, work, and visit. Investing in recreation is an investment in Milton’s future and the vitality of Vermont as a whole.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to learn, share ideas, and bring new inspiration back to Milton. Here’s to continuing to grow community through recreation!🌳💚

The Milton Selectboard is asking qualified voters interested in serving their community to consider applying for an appointment to a board, commission and/or committee.

An application form can be obtained at miltonvt.gov/vacancy or at the Town Manager’s Office, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. (except legal holidays). A list of current vacancies can be found at miltonvt.gov/employment or in the Town Manager’s Office. The terms for these vacancies are noted below.

Please submit applications by Monday, 10/19/2026.

Once the application is received, applicants will be notified of the date, time and location of the Selectboard Meeting at which they will be interviewed for their position(s) of choice. NOTE: Applicants must be registered voters in the Town of Milton in order to be considered, and the Selectboard requires new applicants be present at the meeting for an interview.

Selectboard Meetings are normally held on the first and third Monday at the Town Municipal Office Building, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Agendas can be found the Friday before the meeting at miltonvt.gov/AgendaCenter. It is anticipated that these interviews will be held at a Selectboard meeting in early November.

• Planning Commission – remainder of one (1) 4-year term to expire 6/30/2027
• Recreation Commission – remainder of one (1) 3-year term to expire 6/30/2027

• Don Turner Jr. Award Committee – remainder of one (1) 3-year term to expire 8/31/2029
• Economic Development Commission – remainder of one (1) 3-year Community Member term to expire 6/30/2029
• Economic Development Commission – up to four (4) 3-year Business Member terms
• Green Mountain Transit Board Alternate – one 3-year term to expire 6/30/2028
• Chittenden Solid Waste District Board Alternate – one 2-year term to expire 5/31/2027
