🚨UPCOMING MICROSURFACING WORK 2026:🚨
The Town has retained Indus to complete microsurfacing on the following streets over the course of 2 days. The work was originally scheduled for Wednesday 7/15/26 and Thursday 7/16/26 but has been RESCHEDULED to FRIDAY 7/17/26 and MONDAY 7/20/26, weather dependent and excluding weekends. The trash schedule will no longer be impacted by this work. The map shows the targeted microsurfacing roads in the dashed-black lines as well. The contractor’s tentative sequencing is below, but is subject to change depending on current traffic and weather conditions:
1. Start on Central Ave (Brook Rd to Eliot St)
2. Then move to Robbins St (Canton Ave to Brush Hill Rd)
The microsurfacing is applied to the roadway in two layers. The contractor will apply the first layer to all of the roads listed above on the first day and will return to apply the second layer the next scheduled day. Every effort will be made to keep roadways open to at least one-way traffic at all times however vehicular traffic will not be allowed on the new pavement for at least 1 hour after it has been placed, until it has cured. While the microsurfacing is being applied and cured, no vehicle access to or from your driveway will be allowed so please plan accordingly. The microsurfacing requires dry pavement to apply and cure properly so we are asking residents to please refrain from watering lawns on the scheduled work days.
Microsurfacing is a fast, economical method for providing a wearing surface to new or existing pavement. It is a modern pavement maintenance approach which consists of fine graded aggregates and asphalt emulsions. The microsurfacing mixes are prepared on the job and spread quickly, easily and evenly on the road. Microsurfacing is a non-polluting asphaltic product that improves skid resistance and reduces the oxidation of the underlying pavement helping to maintain a smooth durable roadway for as long as possible.
Before the microsurfacing is applied, some preparatory work takes place in the weeks leading up to the application. This may include crack sealing, minor pot hole patching and structure/casting adjustments, vegetation trimming along the curb line/edge of pavement, and grinding/removal of existing pavement markings.
