Greetings Town of Milton Community! The Town of Milton Police Department is seeking your assistance in identifying the motorcycle and its operator in the attached photos. On Thursday, April 9th at 2:14pm, this motorcycle was tracked at 92mph driving southbound on State Highway 26 from County Road N in Milton Township. When a traffic stop was attempted on the motorcycle, the operator intentionally fled from the officer and reached speeds estimated in excess of 120mph. For the safety of everyone on the road and the motorcycle operator, the traffic stop attempt was terminated. It should be noted that one photo was captured on State Highway 26 near Jefferson around 2:01pm and the other was captured on State Highway 26 just South from County Road N at 2:14pm. We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Deputy Chief Michael Chesmore, a recently retired professional whose 23 years of dedicated service to the City of Milton and the Milton Police Department left a lasting impact on our community.

Mike served with pride, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the safety and well-being of others. His leadership, professionalism, and steady presence helped shape the department and the people within it, and his contributions will not be forgotten.

Beyond his uniform and badge, Mike was a devoted husband, father, family member and friend. Our hearts go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time. We recognize that his greatest legacy is not only his years of public service, but also the love and memories he leaves behind with those closest to him.

We honor Mike’s life with gratitude for his service, respect for his character, and appreciation for the sacrifices he and his family made on behalf of our community. He will be missed, remembered, and forever regarded as part of the Milton law enforcement family. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

In recognition of Mike’s service and dedication, Milton Mayor Eric Stockman has ordered that flags in the City of Milton be lowered to half-staff.

NOTICE OF WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS: On Monday 2-16-25 12 ton weight limits go into effect on all town roads. Please plan accordingly. This also includes town roads in the Town of Harmony. This will be in effect until further notice.
