Welcome to the Milton Police Department page. We are a Community oriented, full-service Police Department located on the northern edge of Chittenden County in the State of Vermont, the largest metropolitan area in the State. The Milton Police Department and its members strive for excellence through

our interaction with the public. The Milton Police Department is dedicated to Community-Policing, a model of policing which encourages cooperation between members of the Community and the Police Department to solve and prevent criminal activity. The Milton Police Department provides a variety of services to our Community as well as that of the surrounding area that we inhabit. Milton has a residential population of approximately 10,000 people. Services are also provided to the numerous commercial and industrial customers located within our borders as well as daily visitors to our Town. Although our Department is small, we are dedicated to providing the Town of Milton with the finest policing services available. It is the belief of our Department that through cooperation between the police and the citizens that we serve, a more capable approach to the prevention of crime and Community problem solving can be achieved. We are interested in knowing how we are doing, so we encourage you to give us your comments and suggestions.

The Milton Police Department in conjunction with Milton Fire and Milton Rescue Departments simulated a fatal DUI crash for Milton High School Juniors and Seniors as the prom and graduation season are fast approaching. This biennial event underscores the profound impact one poor choice can have on the individual, their family, and the community as a whole.

A special thank you to Minor's Funeral Home for assisting at the mock crash scene, the Chittenden County State’s Attorney’s Office for speaking with students regarding criminal ramifications, and McRae Truck & Auto for provided the vehicles used in the mock crash.

Students stood quietly in ponchos and hooded sweatshirts as Milton Police, Fire and Rescue crews responded to the staged scene, where four Milton High School juniors acted out a prom-night crash caused by an impaired driver.

With summer around the corner and more people out riding, the Milton Police Department is sharing information about “e-bikes” and other motorized bikes commonly being used in our community.

Our mission is to protect, serve, and enhance the safety of all members of our community. Safety is paramount, especially young riders and others sharing the roadway, sidewalks, and public spaces.

Our approach is focused primarily on education and safety. Please reach out with any questions.
