The tropics are out here to remind you we are approaching peak hurricane season.

As of right now, we are not expecting any major impacts from the yellow blob. What we can expect, however, is a moderate risk of rip currents through this afternoon.

Also, a typical summertime pattern consisting of scattered afternoon showers and storms, mainly over coastal counties, will be in place over the next few days. Gusty winds and heavy rainfall cannot be ruled out from any stronger storms that develop.

Affected areas: Starting at 4404 Woodville Road to include, 4409, 4412, 4413, and 4432 Woodville Road to include: 4470 Leavins Street and 6913 Olsen Street.

A main break has occurred and/or a loss of pressure has been experienced.

Therefore, as a precaution, the Bagdad - Garcon Point Water System, Inc. advises that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.

This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.

We are monitoring an area of low pressure currently located about 125 miles south of Pensacola. Formation chances remain low (20%) over the next 7 days.

Local impacts include:
🌊 Moderate risk of rip currents through Sunday night.
☔ Increased rain chances and gusty winds along the coast.
⚠️ Potential for localized flash flooding.

Continue to monitor updates from NWS Mobile, the National Hurricane Center, and other reliable sources.

We are monitoring Disturbance 2 over the northern Gulf associated with weak low pressure. For our local area, we expect a Moderate Risk of Rip Currents for our local beaches and the highest chance of heavy rain across our coastal communities over the weekend into early next week.

Disasters are a community effort, and strong partnerships make all the difference! 🤝🌟

Yesterday, Santa Rosa County Emergency Management joined local faith leaders, nonprofits, public safety partners and emergency management professionals for the BRACE's Faith Community Emergency Summit at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium.

Kevin Riley and Tim Trowbridge represented Santa Rosa County Emergency Management, with Travis Tompkins from Escambia County Emergency Management, to have a conversation about the important role faith-based organizations can play before, during and after a disaster. ⛪️🚨

From preparing their own congregations and checking on members after an event to identifying ways to support the broader community, faith organizations can be an incredible resource during times of need. We also discussed the importance of building relationships with Emergency Management before disaster strikes—so we know each other's capabilities, resources and needs when it matters most.

The summit was a great opportunity to connect, coordinate and strengthen the partnerships that help our communities prepare, respond and recover together. 💙

Because when disaster strikes, we're stronger together. 💪

UPDATE #2: Wednesday, August 26, 8:45 a.m. - Both southbound lanes of Highway 87 N. at Highway 89 in Milton have reopened after being blocked due to a downed power line in the roadway. One northbound lane of Highway 87 remains closed to allow for power pole resetting. There is no current estimated time for reopening both northbound lanes.

Northbound drivers should use caution in the area as repairs continue.

UPDATE: Wednesday, August 26, 6:40 a.m. - One southbound and one northbound lane of Highway 87 N. at Highway 89 in Milton have reopened after being blocked due to a downed power line in the roadway.

Drivers should expect delays and use caution in the area.
