I am the fallen soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine the one who answered the call when the nation needed me.

Through every generation of American history, from Lexington and Concord to Iraq and Afghanistan, I stood the line against those who threatened our freedom.

The weapons, machines, and battlefields changed with time, but one thing never changed: it was always the warrior who carried the burden of war. I endured fear, hardship, sacrifice, and unimaginable loss so that others could live in peace and freedom.

But remember, I was more than a warrior. I was a son, daughter, brother, sister, husband, wife, father, and mother. I had hopes, dreams, and a future I willingly gave up in service to this country and its people.

This Memorial Day, remember the fallen not only for how they died, but for how they lived and what they sacrificed so others could enjoy life, liberty, family, and freedom. Honor them by never forgetting that freedom was purchased at the highest cost and by living lives worthy of their sacrifice.

Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day 2026, we honor the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities in this country.

Every day, peace officers across America put others before themselves and answer a call not everyone is willing to take.

While some may say it’s a job “anyone can do,” today reminds us of the dedication, sacrifice, and courage the profession truly requires.

We remember the fallen and thank those who continue to serve.

The Milton Police Department would like to make the community aware of reports involving local students participating in the “Senior Assassin” game.
Although the activity is commonly played using water guns, some items may appear realistic from a distance, and participants may be seen running, hiding, or lingering around neighborhoods, parking lots, and other public areas.
While we understand this is intended as a recreational activity, these actions can understandably cause concern for residents and passing motorists who may not realize a game is taking place.
We ask students participating to use good judgment, remain mindful of how their actions may be perceived, and avoid behavior that could alarm the public. Community members are encouraged to continue reporting suspicious or concerning activity to law enforcement when observed.
