Join us tonight! The movie will be shown inside the Tiger Point Community Center due to the this week’s weather causing muddy conditions outside.

Santa Rosa County invites residents and visitors to enjoy an evening under the stars at the Movie in the Parks summer series. The next movie is scheduled for Friday, August 28, featuring The Little Mermaid © Walt Disney Pictures, inside the Tiger Point Community Center, 1370 Tiger Park Lane, Gulf Breeze.

The movie will be shown at sunset. Admission is free and open to the public. Popcorn will be provided.

This summer series will run through September 11, every second Friday of the month at Benny Russell Park and on the fourth Friday of the month at Tiger Point Park. A full schedule of movies and dates can be found online at www.santarosa.fl.gov/1141/Movie-in-the-Parks.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for a fun-filled evening of entertainment. Local food truck vendors will be on-site, and movies will be shown on a large outdoor screen, creating a theater-like experience in the heart of Santa Rosa County’s beloved parks. Visitors are responsible for purchases from food trucks.

Big things are happening in Santa Rosa County! At this week’s Board of County Commissioners meetings, commissioners unanimously approved several items that will support conservation, economic development and housing opportunities in our community. 🌱🏗️🏡

🌳 Protecting Legacy Lands
Up to $500,000 in conservation funding will be committed in FY27 to purchase conservation easements for three projects totaling 103.4 acres, helping preserve important lands for future generations.

🏭 Investing in Industrial Development
The county will submit a $4.1 million Triumph Grant application for Santa Rosa Industrial Park East. If awarded, the funding would help acquire 8.5 acres and an existing 25,000-square-foot building, supporting continued industrial development and job creation, including a grant commitment tied to 90 jobs through Project Die Hard.

🏡 Supporting Housing Opportunities
The county also approved the Escambia Consortium 2025–2029 Consolidated Plan and 2026 Annual Action Plan, including $223,608.69 in HOME funds for Santa Rosa County to support housing and community development.

These investments help protect our natural resources, strengthen our economy and support the needs of Santa Rosa County residents, today and for years to come.

Emergency Loans & Drought Disaster Designation

USDA has designated several Florida counties as natural disaster areas due to drought, allowing farmers/producers to apply for emergency loans. FSA reviews each application individually, taking into account the extent of production losses.

Woodbine Road from 5467 Woodbine Road to Vinewood Lane will be reduced to one lane beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 27, to allow Pace Water System, Inc. to make repairs to a water main leak in the area. Lanes are expected to only be reduced from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

Tuesday, August 25, 11:45 a.m. - A portion of Frontera Street between Montalban Street and Salamanca Street in Navarre will be reduced to one lane beginning Wednesday, August 26, at 7:30 a.m. for a waterline installation by the Holley-Navarre Water System. This section will be reduced to one lane from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Friday, August 28, weather permitting.

UPDATE: Friday, August 28, 2:28 p.m. - The right turn lane on Edgewood Drive at Highway 98 and the acceleration lane on Highway 98 from Edgewood Drive in Navarre will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, August 31, for installation work associated with the new Wawa gas station.

The closure and installation originally scheduled for Thursday, August 27, were delayed due to weather.

A refreshed Milton Library is coming soon. The library will temporarily close beginning Mon., Aug. 31, for new flooring and other improvements. All programs will be cancelled during the closure, and the book drop will also be unavailable.

Patrons are encouraged to visit one of our other library locations during this time. The Milton Library is expected to reopen in October, with the reopening date to be announced as work progresses.

We appreciate the community’s patience and look forward to welcoming patrons back to a refreshed Milton Library.
