On June 7, 2018, at approximately 5:00 P.M., Officer Charles (Chuckie) Irvine Jr. and his partner observed a vehicle driving recklessly as it traveled eastbound on West Silver Spring Drive near North 91st Street. The officers attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle by activating the squad’s lights and sirens; however, the suspect’s vehicle refused to pull over and began to elude officers. A vehicle pursuit subsequently began and as the suspect’s vehicle approached 7600 West Silver Spring Drive the squad car lost control and rolled over. Officer Irvine Jr., who was 23 years old, tragically lost his life in the squad accident.

The suspect involved in the vehicle pursuit was apprehended by Milwaukee Police and sentenced to 30 years in prison for his involvement in Officer Irvine’s death.

Although Officer Irvine Jr. is no longer with us, his life and legacy will forever live on. Thank you Officer Irvine Jr. for your dedication and ultimate sacrifice to the City of Milwaukee and to the Milwaukee Police Department.

We Remember.

In March of 2020, the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) Open Records Counter was closed to protect the health and safety of the public due to COVID-19. Since then, MPD Open Records Section has received approximately 450 requests each week and is currently processing a backlog of requests. With social distancing limitations in place, the Open Records Counter is now reopening to the public under new hours on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. The MPD Open Records Counter will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and is located on the second floor of Milwaukee Police Department District Three (2333 N 49th St.).

The MPD Open Records Counter’s purpose is to fulfill simple and specific public records requests as quickly as possible.

Requests for records requiring time-intensive review (such as incident reports concerning violent crimes or audio/video files) cannot be fulfilled at the counter. To ensure that as many people as possible can receive their records the day they arrive to the counter, time-intensive requests will be processed with the general backlog of records requests, in the order in which they were received. Time-intensive open records request can be submitted at [email protected].

Requests for accident reports, citations, computer aided dispatch logs, and non-violent incident reports can be fulfilled at the public counter.

If a request cannot be fulfilled at the counter, the requestor will be asked to fill out a request form and the request will be processed as soon as possible and without delay, in the order it was received by MPD Open Records Section.

If you have any questions regarding records requests, please contact MPD Open Records Section at (414) 935-7502.
