Puerto Rican Fest was a joyful celebration of culture, family, and the traditions that connect us across generations.

It was a privilege to speak at this year’s opening ceremony and present a Milwaukee County recognition citation to the Puerto Rican Fest team and Yussef Morales for their bold and lasting impact on our community.

As a proud Afro-Latina of Puerto Rican descent, this celebration holds a very special place in my heart. ❤️

I'm still smiling from a beautiful evening celebrating and supporting our wonderful parks. We gathered around the simple yet profound idea that our parks are more than just green space; they help shape our communities. The family gatherings, summer days, pickup games, neighborhood traditions, and memories that stay with us long after we leave make their worth infinite.

Thank you to everyone who came together for Go-Green for Parks. The best days for our parks are still ahead, and I’m excited for what we’ll grow together. 🌱🌳💚

So many incredible things ahead of us.

Thriving in place means making sure Milwaukee families can build a life, build wealth, and build a future in the neighborhoods they call home.

I was proud to join the Community Development Alliance for their Annual Conference to reflect on what that looks like in Milwaukee and how the people who have built and cared for our neighborhoods for generations can be part of what comes next.

When a family receives a set of keys, it represents more than a home. It represents stability, possibility, and a foundation to pass down to the next generation.

Family by family. Block by block. Generation by generation.

Today, I joined Aurora Health Care and community partners to celebrate a milestone in the transformation of the historic Wisconsin Avenue School into The Beacon.

Built from the voices and priorities of more than 1,000 community members, The Beacon will bring health and wellness, workforce development, and opportunities for connection together under one roof on Milwaukee’s Near West Side.

This is what a healthier Milwaukee County looks like: creating spaces shaped by the people who live, work, and build their lives here.

I’m excited to see this vision take shape and, in spring 2027, welcome The Beacon into our community! 💚

Last night was a fantastic night for Milwaukee parks! As co-chair of the 5th Annual Go-Green for Parks event, it was such a blast to celebrate and show support alongside so many wonderful people who believe in the power and importance of our parks system. The impact you all made in our community is immeasurable.

I am so grateful to all of the supporters who showed up, and for the partnerships making this all possible. These efforts will help ensure our parks remain strong and protected for generations to come, because when we invest in our parks, we are investing in our communities, our children, and the well-being of future generations. 🌱

Hispanic Heritage Month is personal for me.

As a Puerto Rican woman and the first Afro-Latina to serve as Chairwoman of the Milwaukee County Board, I carry my family’s stories, traditions, faith, music, food, and joy with me every day.

I’m proud of where I come from, and I'm committed to making sure the next generation knows that their heritage is something to celebrate and carry forward.

¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana! 🇵🇷❤️

Tonight, we’re going green for Milwaukee County Parks! I’m so proud to serve as a co-chair of Go-Green for Parks and celebrate the people and partners investing in the places that bring our communities together. Our parks are where families gather, neighbors connect, and generations make memories. 🌱

We hope to see you there tonight, 5-8 p.m., at the South Shore Terrace to celebrate and keep our park system thriving! Walk-up registration is still available! https://mkeparksfoundation.org/gogreen/

Our democracy works best when people know their voice matters and have the opportunity to use it.

Today at El Rey Market, in honor of National Voter Registration Day, I joined LULAC Wisconsin, the Fight For Our Lives Coalition - WI, League of Women Voters - Milwaukee County, and community partners to speak about the importance of making your voice heard on Election Day. I also presented a Milwaukee County Board recognition honoring their work to strengthen voter registration and civic participation in our community.

Thank you to everyone putting in the work to make sure our neighbors are registered, informed, and ready to participate. Every voice matters. Every vote matters.

It was so special to be part of a celebration that brings Milwaukee together to honor culture, family, and traditions that connect us across generations. We carry our heritage with us in the language we speak, the food we share, the music we love, and the stories we pass down.

This year, I was honored to present UMOS, Inc. with a citation from the Milwaukee County Board recognizing more than six decades of service to our community and its longstanding work to expand opportunity, support families, and create spaces where culture and community can flourish.

Thank you, UMOS, Inc., for bringing us together for another beautiful Mexican Independence Day celebration. Milwaukee is stronger because of the cultures, histories, and families that call this community home. ¡Viva México! ¡Viva Milwaukee!
