Rescue and Restore MKE is a nonprofit nondenominational organization that meets IRS criteria for 501(c)3 organizations, including maintaining buildings of public importance, lessening neighborhood tensions, and combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency. Rescue and Restore MKE is headquartered in a 125-year-old structure at 2375 N. 4th St. built by Germans who were prominent in bus
iness, politics and the arts. They called the church “Dreieinigkeitskirche.”
Rescue and Restore MKE cooperates with -- but is independent of -- the current occupant of the buildings, King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church. King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church is recognized as a leader in responding to the spiritual and earthly needs of local residents. Our vision includes:
█ Conservation and upgrading of the buildings to better serve the needs of local residents, while remaining respectful of the German and civil rights history of the structures
█ Employment assistance, youth programs, meal programs, accessing child support, providing schooling and educational opportunities.
█ Reconciliation meetings between offenders and their victims to build empathy and reduce recidivism
█ Expungement of old criminal records that make it difficult to gain employment.
█ Counselling for people who wish to be a fuller part of our community, including former prisoners.
█ Street festivals and other outdoor activities for people of all ages to promote neighborhood peace.
█ Forums to build a stronger relationship between government officials and the public.
█ Collaboration with civic and arts organizations to overcome the city’s social and ethnic divisions
