Public Safety Cadet, Family Day 2023!!!
It was so amazing to see so many family members at the Academy. We had nearly 100 people attend, to include almost 30 cadets. These youth have put in so many volunteer hours at community events over the summer and throughout the year. Today, was a day to show appreciation and thanks to them, and their families for their support. It was also an opportunity to showcase some of the training they receive. A few of our cadets were so brave and spoke to this large room full of people, to tell them about their accomplishments and why they wanted to have leadership roles in the program (sergeant and lieutenant ranks).
So proud of all the youth in this program. Looking forward to next year!

Today, was the first class of Police Aides since 2019 to be sworn in! We are so excited to welcome two of our former Public Safety Cadets. Congratulations to them and the entire class! 🎉

Our Public Safety Cadets are home! It was a packed few days. They had scenarios in Officer Rescue, Burglary in Progress, Human Trafficking, Traffic Stop and self-defense seminar. They didn’t win any trophies, but this opportunity was priceless and we are extremely proud of them! They learned so much and gained a lot more confidence in themselves and their abilities. They also experienced the Gatlinburg Skybridge in a team building activity by crossing the glass center of the bridge and overcoming their fear. We are hopeful that some of our Cadets will be able to attend the 2025 National competition in Ontario, California.

Yesterday, was the first day of the National Cadet training competition! Our Milwaukee Police Department Public Safety Cadets were able to enjoy some of the sights in Gatlinburg, Tennessee before they joined the 149 different teams from across the country at the opening ceremony. Wishing them good luck!! 🍀

Today, was the last day of Camp HERo. The campers were able to get on the MPD boat in the morning and have a career discussion with Lt. Vynette Norberg, from Milwaukee Police District 5. After lunch, the campers put all the week long training to use. They worked as a team both Fire and Police during an Active Shooter scenario.
Then they participated in a debrief, which was ran by Erin, a member of our department’s wellness team.
Looking forward to next year!

Camp HERo - Day 4

Today was filled with loads of excitement!
They practiced room clearing with officers from our Tactical Enforcement Unit. The campers were able locate all the role players hiding in the apartment scene.

Then they switched gears and broadcasted a vehicle pursuit in training squad cars provided by MATC south campus.

Camp HERo
Day 2-
The campers experienced how to receive and dispatch calls for service; with the understanding that our dispatchers are our lifelines out there. They also participated in foot pursuits (P.O. McClain and Sgt. Rivera) were caught every time. 👀
Day 3-
Sgt. Howard from Milwaukee Police District 5 and the OCOE team helped the campers conduct traffic stops and they learned how community engagement can happen in everyday operations. The campers were also able to put their CSI skills to work and obtain fingerprints and DNA from various surfaces with the help of Forensic Investigator Beamon.

Yesterday, was the orientation day of Camp HERo! It’s going to be an exciting week!! 🚔🚒🚑
It’s a great partnership between Girl Scouts of Southeast Wisconsin, Milwaukee Police Department, Fire & Police Commission - MKE, and Milwaukee Fire Department. Young ladies, who want to learn more about a career in the protective service fields will work with Fire Fighters and Law Enforcement professionals for a week at MATC south campus (oak creek). Stay tuned for more pictures throughout the training.

2022 Auxiliary Appreciation Dinner!

You all are truly amazing individuals, and we could not thank you enough for all of the volunteer hours and community service you do for the City of Milwaukee.

We presented awards for the most volunteer service hours, leadership, and community service awards. Award for Mentor of the year was presented to Police Officer Jason Janotta, (proud father of a baby boy 12 hours ago). There are no words to describe his dedication and commitment to the auxiliaries and the mission of the Milwaukee Police Department.

We were honored to have the families of Auxiliary Edward Senour, Daniel Lutz, and Frank “John” Kessler, who passed away. Thank you for your service to our community.💙🖤
