Our mission, at Monroe, Inc., is to improve the quality of life for culturally diverse LGBT individuals and their respective families through racial and social justice, capacity building, advocacy, service navigation, programming, community mobilization and engagement. Since its inception, Monroe develops strategic collaborative relationships and partnerships; developed and launched a community campaign named Know More HIV, an adult drop-in center named MPower, and a culturally responsive prevention program named Vogue Nights.

Monroe, Inc. provides/offers the following services/programs:

• Be Poz
Be Poz is the only HIV-positive youth social support group in Milwaukee for Black gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men and is designed to; increase participants self efficacy, esteem, reconnect participants to and retain them in quality HIV care services (including access and adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) ultimately leading to improved health outcomes as well as reduced community viral load.

• Vogues Knights
Vogue Knights is a reoccurring monthly activity in which primarily Black young gay, bisexual, other men who have sex with men and transgender persons compete in categories of dance and modeling. Vogue Knights fuses “House” and “Ball” culture with HIV and substance use/abuse awareness, prevention, risk reduction education, safer sex messages and HIV testing services. Vogue Nights is a safe space, drug and alcohol free, which provides members of the target population with an affirming environment.
