Since 1976, Community Advocates (CA) has maintained and strengthened its mission to provide basic needs advocacy and services to low-income, at-risk individuals and families in the Milwaukee area. Our services include health care advocacy, case management and protective payee services, homelessness prevention, energy assistance, disability advocacy services, and housing/case management services for individuals who are homeless and also have chronic mental illness. At the heart of our mission, our Public Policy Institute’s goal is to explain and reduce poverty in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. In addition, Community Advocates has a rich history of creating partnerships and collaborations to solve problems. As the lead agency for Milwaukee’s Continuum of Care, Community Advocates is a recognized leader in providing services to the homeless. Through its Milwaukee Women’s Center division, CA provides comprehensive domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health services. Finally, as the lead agency for Milwaukee Brighter Futures, CA oversees programs for children, youth and their families that help prevent teen pregnancy, child abuse and neglect, violence, gang involvement and alcohol and drug abuse.

Mission: Our Mission: To provide individuals and families with advocacy and services to meet their basic needs so they may live in dignity.

#RentAssistance is incredibly important during a pandemic to keep tenants safe at home. Learn what @renthelpmke is doing to prevent #eviction and keep people safe.

What does rent assistance look like? In the past five months, we’ve worked with #MKERHRC partners to collectively administer $13 million in payments to relieve low-income households of rent arrears. These payments enable tenants and landlords to avoid eviction and to maintain stable housing. #stablehousing is #healthyhousing.

OnMilwaukee's "Silent Nighties" collects sleepwear for Milwaukee Women's Center

We're so grateful that OnMilwaukee is partnering with the #MilwaukeeWomensCenter this holiday season on a new campaign called "Silent Nighties." The name is fun, but the mission is serious: we want to collect hundreds of nightgowns & sleepwear for the women supported by the shelter.

New nightgowns for all seasons and in all sizes are needed – from Small to XXLarge – because often the women arrive without an overnight bag.

Click the link to find out how you can help. Thank you! 💜

Our life has been ruined. We were involved in a major 2 car accident. Just 3 days before Christmas. Our car is totaled. Yes this is financially destroying us. We are just trying to get back on our feet, and with a little help from some good people, we can. We are 60 & 66 yrs old, not that young anymore. We were just stopped at a stop light, minding our own business. While he was on his "PHONE" paying no attention to the road & his surrondings at all. He rear ended us doing 45 m.p.h.+. Thank God he or none of us 3 were seriously hurt. If you can help Us with anything please do! We are overwhelmed and in disbelief - honestly it’s surreal. We are dealing with Chiropractors, Medical & Lawyers. We are going to be flooded with paperwork and figuring out what comes next, if you can relieve some of the burden and make sure we have less to worry about that would be a huge help.Every bit donated will go directly to the us to help us to rebuild everything we have lost. We can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity, support, love, and prayers. This is such a humbling & yes a humilating experience for us, we putting this on Facebook. With your "Support" we can land on our feet again. and we would like to say,"Thank You For Your Support". I Hope This does Not Happen to anyone else, but I know that is not true. "Please Share"
Check it! Every (yes, EVERY) day, Community Advocates' Milwaukee Women’s Center works to end the cycle of violence so that individuals, partners, families, and communities can experience a more peaceful future. One of our innovative programs is the Nevermore Batterers Prevention and Intervention Program😀, which works with men who have a history of violence in their relationships so that they can get at the root causes of their abusive behavior.
