Happy Father's Day from the entire Domes crew! We hope you'll visit us today.

Escape the fray instead of stepping into it: "Glass Under Glass" is a scintillating colorburst of glass sculptures and stained glass windows (thank you, Alex G.) that perfectly complement the variegated summer flower mix. All housed, naturally, under glass in the magnificent Show Dome. mitchellparkdomes.com

Penelope, our beloved Co**se Flower, is growing rapidly--14 inches in just five days--and will bloom soon. It takes considerable energy for this rare plant to reach the bloom phase, which is an unpredictable event, timewise. We will let you know as soon as the blossom occurs.

Amorphophallus titanum is a rarity in its native home, Sumatra, with fewer than 1,000 plants in the wild. In "captivity," the Co**se Flower is a weird delight for humans, who are drawn to the plant when it's in bloom. Why? For the same reason carrion beetles and flies swarm the plant during its short-lived bloom: it stinks to high heaven. We humans are unfailingly curious and tend to gather around odd, smelly phenomena; the pollinator insects are more serious: they're in pursuit of food ("Hey! There's a dead mouse over here!") The plant hopes, after working up the energy to bloom, that the insects will help reproduce its kind. Penelope can now be seen, in all her pre-bloom glory, in the Tropical Dome. mitchellparkdomes.com

A rare moment with a rare flower— and you’ll have just 24 to 48 hours to catch the magic.

Penelope, our co**se flower, is getting ready to bloom inside the Tropical Dome. And when she does, she will unfurl into one of the largest and rarest flowering structures in the plant kingdom — heating her towering center and releasing the unmistakable scent that earns the co**se flower its name.

Yes, that scent. It’s part of the magic.

Equal parts living science exhibit and natural wonder, there’s nothing else like it in Milwaukee.

Here’s the catch: a bloom can open at any hour, and once it does, the clock starts. We’re currently anticipating this event to happen around June 23–24, but nature is wonderfully unpredictable.

The best way to make sure you don’t miss her? Follow this page and turn on notifications. The moment she starts to open, you’ll be the first to know — with real-time updates and, as availability allows, extended evening and early-morning hours while she’s in bloom.

And when the line forms outside? Members get in free, skip the line through a dedicated member lane, and can come back as often as they like throughout the bloom.

For a family, a single visit can cover the cost of membership.

Impending bloom alert! "Penelope," our beloved Co**se Flower, is growing by leaps and bounds. Now standing an impressive 29 inches--her height increases by two or three inches daily--the plant is in the process of generating the energy needed to bloom. And when that happens, it's an odor to behold!

In bloom, the rare Amorphophallus titanum emits the smell of rotting flesh - a clever ploy to attract carrion flies, who unwittingly assist with pollination. The fact that the Co**se Flower also attracts curious humans is well documented in the journals of botany. Don't miss the growth ... and the bloom, which is short-lived and could occur any day. We'll let you know when the blessed/cursed event happens! mitchellparkdomes.com
