One way we’re celebrating Black History Month in the Drop is by recognizing black artists and leaders in Milwaukee and around the world. Our youth put this board together honoring the unapologetically black voices of the past and present.

If you want to support future African American leaders in our community, consider donating your time or resources to Pathfinders’ young people!

A Brief History of The Nehemiah Project Inc.

The Nehemiah Project Inc. was organized in 1996 as a youth-focused non-profit organization that provides support services to male youth who have either been the victim of difficult home lives or are transitioning from a juvenile correctional facility. In 2002, The Nehemiah Project acquired two group homes for youth, ages 13-18: Harper House, located on Milwaukee’s East side, has been serving as a group home since 1991 and TransCenter, located on Milwaukee’s West side, has been serving as a group home since 1978. These group homes offer programs that aim to help these young men find new ways to navigate in the world. Our Literacy Program, Juvenile Cognitive Intervention Program, Independent Living Program, Forgiveness for Teens and other programs offer youth opportunities to grow, adapt, mature, and see new futures for themselves.
