September 11, 2001 - Lost but Never Forgotten

Marquette Navy and Air Force ROTC participated in planting flags outside the Alumni Memorial Union on Marquette's campus.
•
We will never forget the lives of those who tragically were lost in such a horrific event. This is the mission of the Young America’s Foundation which has created iconic displays made up of 2,977 American flags nationwide. Each represents the sacrifice, terror, and pain everyone experienced during this event.
•
Many of us in this generation were not old enough to experience or remember this event, but we must promise to never forget and honor those who have fought for our freedom and keep us safe.

What better way than to start the semester off with a Physical Fitness Assessment! Just like the Strike Eagle, cadets had to adapt, focus, and put their maximum effort into this physical test.

A new group of freshmen have decided to join the Det 930 family! Before they get started they had to learn the rules, regulations, and standards expected of them. This includes stenciling their shirt to be prepared for their first week of AFROTC.

Huge congratulations to C/Davila for completing field training max 5. He was also awarded Distinguished Graduate- DG, and earned a 100 on his PFA. We are so proud of how he represented Det 930!

Apostoli completed SWOC Session 2 this summer at the USAFA! He was able to learn about the Special Warfare career field and train with other officers and enlisted.

He absolutely crushed it and we are so proud that he is a Det 930 cadet. 🫶

C/Vansickle is on his way to earning his Private Pilots License this summer at the Charleston Flight Academy. This PDT is sponsored through JROTC and offers a fully funded PPL.

A warrior if I have ever seen one…Congratulations to C/Delaney for completing Field Training 2023 with Max 3!

C/Delaney was also awarded the Warrior Spirit Award for being an outstanding flight member. It is not easy to have a good attitude for three weeks of FT (trust me, I know) but a Warrior Spirit recipient is someone who is able to have grit in difficult time.

Yah…THE Cadet Acosta is from Det 930.

Congratulations to C/Acosta on absolutely crushing it at Field Training Max 3. She also got the opportunity to participate in a Capstone event at Wright-Pat- experiencing the Air Force Research Las, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, and the National museum of the AF.

Cadet Bonetti had the incredible opportunity through .sw and to participate in a two week fellowship to vist the Normandy American National Cemetery.

Cadet Bonetti worked with the guide teams, horticulture crew, and leadership to prepare for the Memorial Day Ceremony and learn about the lives of the men and women who fought and died in WWII.
•
“An incredible experience…I have a genuinely new perspective of what it means to be in the military. I am so grateful for my opportunity in France and I am extremely proud to support the mission and service that the men and women of Normandy were also fighting for.”

C/Utrie just spent 14 days participating in SWOC - Special Warfare Orientation Course. He learned about the Special Warfare career field, went through leadership classes, interviews with Officers & Enlisted, ran through real world mission profiles, and had intro to water confidence training, intro to rucking, and intro to calisthenics… AND a lot more.

Commissioning in the Fall, Cadet Munz is taking full advantage of ProjectGo by traveling to Muscat, Oman to learn beginner Arabic. This program allows cadets to not only learn a new language, but experience the culture, religion, diversity, and people of an entirely different place. These experiences build great officers!

Cadet Hansen is kickin’ it in Fez, Morocco this summer with Project Global Officer (ProjectGo). She is an intermediate level Arabic student participating in a 7 week intensive language program through the Virginia Military Institute and AFROTC.

Cadet Rongaus and Cadet Winklosky are Field Training Max One 2023 Graduates! At Det 930, we are beyond excited to welcome them into the Professional Officer Course.
They were a part of the first-ever Space Force Flight at Maxwell focusing on Guardian mission-oriented training. Cadet Rongaus is also bringing home the title - Distinguished Graduate - an extremely competitive and honorable award.
We could not be more proud of how well two years of dedicated Det 930 training pays off.
The obstacle is the way. This week at LLAB, cadets participated in a complex GMC run GLP and learned DFAC Procedures. In the GLP, cadets were required to answer warrior knowledge correctly to get information. Overcoming this obstacle was the key to success during the GLP. Whether it be a GLP, intimidating DFAC line, or just a conversation with a friend or family member, the obstacle will always improve you and will always be the way.

C/Woller is from Mt Horeb, WI and is a senior at Wisconsin Lutheran College. He studies Mathematics and Educational Studies and hopes to be an Acquisitions Officer in the Air Force. In his free time, he likes to refurbish old furniture, lift weights, go on long drives with his wife Reilly and go to Taco Tuesday at Bel Air. Fun Fact: He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life last summer!

C/Radtke studies at U.W. Milwaukee and majors in Computer Science. In the Air Force, C/Radtke wants to be a combat rescue pilot. C/Radtke loves to play video games and read in his freetime. One unique fact about him is that he is scuba certified!
Eliminating the “good enough” mindset is another one of Air Task Force Commander C/Col Oliver-Fultz’s commander intents. This week at LLAB, cadets did FTO interviews, Dorm maintenance procedures, Road Guard Procedures, a feedback session, and even got a visit from a JAG to learn about the JAG career field. All of these procedures/sessions require a level of discipline, transparency, and vulnerability that cannot be achieved by just saying “good enough”.

C/Van Sickle is from Antioch IL. He is a freshman at Carthage College studying Financial Accounting. In the Air Force he hopes to be a Special Operations Pilot. In his free time he likes to play football, video games, watch movies, train/lift, play board games, go out, and snowboard! Fun fact: He used to race snowmobiles when he was younger!
The obstacle is the way. This week at LLAB, cadets learned the basics of Land Navigation, Small Unit Tactics, 9-Line, LACE, and SALUTE reports. These are all tools given to cadets to help prepare them for their obstacles that they may face in Field Training and their future Air Force Careers.

C/Davila is from Janesville WI. He is a sophomore at Marquette University studying Electrical Engineering. In the Air Force, C/Davila would like to be an F-22 Fighter Pilot or would also love to be a developmental engineer. In his free time he likes to play basketball and workout. One weird fact about C/Davila is that he loves to Yo-Yo.
This week at LLAB, Cadets participated in a base layout briefing, Air Show GLP, a presentation about AAR’s (After Action Reports), and then cadets were given the opportunity to complete an AAR that was based on the Air Show GLP that they had just completed. An AAR is similar to a debrief. It looks at an operation that was completed and analyzes what went right/wrong. This is much more in-depth than a typical debrief. This last LLAB showcased C/Col Oliver Fultz’s Commander's intent of discovering our weaknesses. In order to learn and build up ourselves and our team, we must be able to recognize our weaknesses in order to strengthen them for next time. The completion of the Air Show GLP and the AAR is a reflection of cadets recognizing their weaknesses as a team and building upon them for next time.
In order to complete a mission, transparency within a team is essential. Leaders and followers must be able to give good feedback to each other. This is one of the end states that Det 930’s Commander Lt Col Warren has for cadets in the Detachment. This week at LLAB, cadets developed this skill through a series of GLP’s, a warrior knowledge quiz, and leading each other in drill.

C/Winklosky studies at Marquette University for a major in Computer Engineering. She hopes to join the Space Force and be a Space Ops or Cyber Officer. In her free time, she likes to watch movies, learn useless trivia, and play in band! A fun fact about her is that she likes to go on night walks at Bradford beach on the weekends during the winter.

Say hi to Cadet Niedfeldt! C/Niedfeldt studies at U.W. Parkside and is a Political Science major. In the Air Force, he hopes to be a pilot. In his free time, C/Niedfeldt loves to run and spot airplanes. One fun fact about him is that he used to have his hair down to his shoulders. This was voted best hair in his high school’s senior superlatives!
“Develop empowered cadets who can find their way, no matter their role”. This is the mission of the ATF/CC (Air Task Force Commander) C/Oliver-Fultz developed for Det 930’s FTP Spring 2023 Semester. This was given in one of the many briefings given to cadets during the first LLAB of the spring semester. Cadets not only learned the mission from the commander's call, but also learned about the expectations for the semester ahead, jobs of the POC, and types of feedback that will be employed during the semester ahead. With expectations established, and legs in dire need of stretching, cadets participated in their first GLP of the semester!

In the Air Force, C/Hansen is shooting to either be an Intelligence Officer or a CSO (Combat Systems Officer). In her free time, she likes to run and listen to music. One fun fact about her is that she was a brown belt in karate at age 8!

A symbol of courage. The lion being passed on to the next Air Task Force Commander is a new tradition at Det 930. As C/Oliver-Fultz assumes this position, she will will be required to demonstrate courage to us all and ensure that the rest of the cadets at Det 930 are courageous in all they do. Physical training this week consisted of squadron competitions, a fitness assessment, and memorial push ups. What a way to start off the semester! As the workouts get tougher, let's continue to keep the morale high and push our limits, cadets! 💪🏼
As the school year slowly comes to a close, we celebrated the Change of Command in our virtual Parade ceremony this afternoon. Thank you C/Campbell on your leadership this past semester and congratulations to C/Archuleta in leading the next one. We have a lot to celebrate this year together for the growth the Det 930 cadets have made in all aspects of their lives.
