C/Frey joined AFROTC to continue a family tradition. His father served and his brother is currently serving in the Air Force. He also wanted to pursue his passion for becoming a pilot. Yesterday for LLAB, the cadets exercised their creativity with communication. Each cadet in a squadron was tasked to draw a MAJCOM without using any words. Afterwards, we watched clips from the HBO series “Band of Brothers” and engaged in discussion about leadership traits that can be harmful or helpful.

Finally, we ended the day with our guest speaker Major Rankin. Major Rankin served as a Missiles Operations Officer and shared her experience on the field as well as managing mental health and fun within her routine. Thank you Major Rankin!

05/23/2019

Over the past weekend, Detachment 930’s senior class commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants in the United States Air Force - a goal set from the beginning of their ROTC careers. Throughout their time as both cadets and college students, this class pushed through numerous boundaries to get where they are today. We have shared many memories together over the past 4 years - the sleepless nights, the arduous FTP sessions, and Field Training - building each other up and mentoring cadets to become the best they can be. You have earned your moment! 2d Lt O’Neill, 2d Lt Bauer, 2d Lt Kiel, and myself (2d Lt Kindschi), we made it!

We would like to thank everyone for making this day possible. Friends, family, teachers, employers, Cadre members, and cadets have showed their support in our journey for where we are today. To our friends and family, thank you for always being there, whether you are prior military or civilian, YOU have been our biggest supporters (even if you don’t understand the military lingo). To our teachers, we appreciate your understanding when we pushed through 5am Leadership Laboratory and tried to coffee our way past the 5pm lectures. To our employers, thank you for understanding our commitment to our country and supporting whatever schedules we threw your way. To our Cadre, thank you for taking the time out of your weekend to set up such a memorable event, being by our side day after day, and pushing us to become the best officers and students we could be. To the Detachment 930 cadets, thank you for putting your foot forward to serving our country, and we wish you nothing but the best in your future. If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out to us. Everyone reading this post, thank you for your continued support in our future endeavors. #humblepost #AFROTC #Marquette #hua Jake Kindschi Liam O'Neill Reilly Bauer Troy Kiel

Three seniors down, two to go! This week’s Senior Spotlight recognizes C/Maj Reilly Bauer, formerly C/Reilly Paine. C/Bauer was recently married to Jordan Bauer at Little Switzerland in Slinger, Wisconsin. C/Bauer is Detachment 930’s Force Support Squadron Commander. She is currently studying nursing at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wauwatosa. In her role as the Force Support Squadron Commander, C/Bauer is responsible for overseeing our Detachment announcements, group chats, events calendar, and morale activities. Memorable events from this semester include a Captain Marvel movie night, Detachment game nights, Adobt-A-Highway cleanups, and rock climbing! All events designed to bring cadets closer together. Outside of AFROTC, C/Bauer enjoys running, skiing, hanging out with friends and family, and hiking. In the winter season, she is a ski instructor at Little Switzerland. She is also a CNA at Community Memorial Hospital. C/Bauer has been apart of the AFROTC program throughout her college education and joined because she wanted to serve members of the community while also serving her country. Once C/Bauer has completed her nursing training at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, she will be stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. Her leave date for training is on 12 August. She has been apart of multiple programs to train cadets on the importance of health and fitness. Whether you’re skiing the Chugach Mountain Range or providing medical treatment to members of the World’s Greatest Air Force, we all wish you and your husband the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Another week, another senior spotlight! This week recognizes C/Lt Col Troy Kiel, who is serving as Detachment 930’s Operations Group Commander. He currently studies supply chain and operations management at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He is also a member of the Wisconsin Air National Guard, serving as a crew chief. In his role as Operations Group Commander, C/Kiel oversees the Physical Fitness Squadron, the Initial Military Training unit, and Field Training Preparation unit. All of these positions are vital to preparing cadets to become effective Air Force officers. Outside of AFROTC, C/Kiel enjoys traveling to foreign countries. Within the past year, he has been to various places in Asia and the Pacific. He has a passion for exotic cuisine and spending time with his cats. He joined AFROTC because he wanted to do something meaningful and to find a purpose. C/Kiel is a pilot selectee and is assigned to Columbus AFB, Mississippi. He is scheduled to leave in the Spring of 2020. Taking his experiences as an enlisted Airman, C/Kiel has given a new perspective on effectively training cadets for the future.
