Thanks to this fine group of community members who helped install the Avenue of Flags at Elmwood Cemetery. Thanks to all who have served - some of whom paid the ultimate price - and also to those who are actively serving to protect our freedoms today.

🚨 Special outdoor warning siren testing today in select communities 🚨

Please share!

Special weather siren testing will take place today in the communities of Redfield, Linden, Minburn, Dawson, and Woodward.

Residents may hear brief audible tones around 10:00 AM. While activation is expected to be short, hearing the sirens during this time is normal and part of the test.

No severe weather is expected today. This is only a test.
No action is required from the public.

Thank you for your awareness as we work to ensure these systems are functioning properly.

Minburn Fire & Rescue would like to thank our mutual aid partners who assisted with last night's incident including Dallas Center Fire Dept; Granger Fire & EMS; Adel Volunteer Fire Association; Woodward Fire; Bouton Fire & Waukee Fire Department. Thank you to Dallas County Emergency Management Agency, Dallas County Sheriff's Office Iowa; Dallas County EMS and Dallas County Secondary Roads who responded as well. We are particularly thankful for our volunteer firefighters who spent the entire night working the scene and returning equipment into service well into late today. Please keep our community and particularly the family impacted by last night's tragedy in your prayers in the coming days and weeks.

πŸ—“οΈ Emergency Exercise Planned – Saturday, April 11, 2026 πŸ—“οΈ

Dallas County Emergency Management, with the Dallas County First Responder Association, will be conducting a hazmat & mass casualty exercise north of Adel at the Human Services Campus. Emergency vehicles will be staged at the Minburn Fire Department and will travel between the two locations.

You may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and responders throughout the areaβ€”this is only a drill.

Exercises like this help strengthen coordination, improve response times, and ensure our community is prepared for real emergencies.

🚩 RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY – AVOID OUTDOOR BURNING 🚩

Critical fire weather conditions are expected across western into central Iowa today.
β€’ Very dry air (humidity as low as 15–20%)
β€’ Dry grasses and cropland
β€’ Near-record warmth
β€’ Winds 10–20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph

Even though winds are not especially strong, these conditions can lead to rapid fire ignition and spread.

🚫 Outdoor burning is NOT recommended today.

⚠️ A Red Flag Warning means critical fire conditions are either occurring now or will develop shortly. Please use extreme caution with anything that could spark a fire.

Help protect your community by avoiding burning and reporting any fires immediately.
