Webster Parish is currently not under a Burn Ban. Due to the dry and windy conditions, we ask everyone to refrain from ALL burning at this time because a small trash fire can get out of hand quickly. Never leave fires burning or smoldering unattended.

We ask everyone to wait until we receive the potential rain this week to burn anything outdoors. Also, remember you can only burn natural vegetative debris such as tree limbs, leaves, etc. It is against the state law and a violation of DEQ regulations under the Clean Air Act to burn a structure.

A reminder of the Elevated Wildfire Threat today!

Webster Parish is currently not under a Burn Ban, but the dry conditions have created an ongoing elevated fire danger threat. We are currently in a Severe Drought condition, so we ask everyone to refrain from ALL burning at this time due to the dry conditions. A small trash fire can get out of hand quickly. There is a chance for rain next week, so we ask everyone to wait until we receive sufficient rainfall to burn anything outdoors. Never burn outdoors during windy conditions and never leave fires burning or smoldering unattended.

There is no Burn Ban currently for Webster Parish, but the dry conditions have created an ongoing elevated fire danger threat. We are currently in a Severe Drought condition. Over the last week, fire departments in our parish have responded to multiple grass/woods fires, including one started by a tire blowout on a vehicle. These were from various causes, but a few were from outdoor burning. We ask everyone to refrain from ALL burning at this time due to the dry conditions because a small trash fire can get out of hand quickly. Never leave fires burning or smoldering unattended.

There is a chance for rain next week so we ask everyone to wait until we receive rain to burn anything outdoors. There is a large prescribed burn of approximately 1,500 acres in Kisatchie National Forest north of Minden. We are aware of heavy smoke in the area and the burn is being performed and monitored by forestry personnel. This area will continue to burn and have smoke and fire visible for several days. This area includes areas around Caney Lake and the Caney Lake Park areas. Webster Parish is still under a Burn Ban but the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry is excluded. They have personnel and equipment monitoring the situation.

There is no Burn Ban currently for Webster Parish, but the dry conditions have created an elevated fire danger threat. We are currently in a Moderate/Severe Drought condition. The soil is wet in some areas from the recent winter weather and minimal rainfall. However, the grass on top is dry and the combination of dry grass, low humidity and wind are causing an extreme danger for outdoor fires. Over the last week, fire departments in our parish have responded to multiple grass/woods fires with (3) large woods fires in the Shongaloo area. These were from various causes, but a few were from outdoor burning. We ask everyone to refrain from ALL burning at this time due to the dry conditions because a small trash fire can get out of hand quickly. Never leave fires burning or smoldering unattended.

Today elevated fire danger conditions exist due to the combination of southwest winds of 15-20 mph with gusts up to 25-30 mph and relative humidity below 25%. Today Webster Parish is in an Extreme Fire Danger situation so please DO NOT burn.

02/22/2026

Windy and dry conditions on Sunday could lead to an elevated wildfire threat across portions of the ArkLaTex. Open flames are discouraged.
