Don’t want a mail ballot for the November 3, 2026 General Election? You have exactly 1 week to submit the paperwork with our office!

📅 September 4 is the LAST DAY to opt out of receiving a mail ballot.

Nevada is an all-mail ballot state, which means active registered voters are automatically sent a mail ballot unless they have chosen to opt out.

Already opted out but changed your mind? You can opt back in to receive your ballot by mail, too!

The important part is making the choice that works best for YOU.

🐾 HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY! 🐾

Here at the Douglas County, NV Election Office, we believe in fair elections, accurate results…and equal representation for ALL good boys and girls. 🐶🇺🇸

Unfortunately, after an extensive review of Nevada election law, we regret to report:

🐕 Being 18 in dog years does not qualify you to vote.
🦴 Treats cannot be used as voter ID.
🐾 Paw prints are not acceptable signatures.
📬 Chewing the mail ballot is strongly discouraged.
🗳️ And repeatedly barking at the ballot box does not make your vote count.

However, dogs remain highly qualified for several important positions:

Chief Morale Officer ✅
Director of Snack Security ✅
Official Greeter ✅
Supervisor of Unauthorized Squirrel Activity ✅

Today, give your favorite four-legged family member an extra treat, a belly rub, and maybe a little appreciation for staying out of politics. 😂🐾

There has been a lot of discussion surrounding the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling related to the President’s Executive Order and mail ballots. For Nevada voters, nothing has changed in how you vote or return your ballot at this time.

Nevada election officials are closely reviewing the ruling and monitoring any federal or USPS actions that may follow. Election administration begins long before Election Day, and we are actively working with our state and federal partners to ensure voters receive accurate information and that Nevada’s elections continue to be administered securely and according to law.

For now, Nevada voters should continue to follow the voting instructions and deadlines provided by their local election office. If anything changes that affects voters, we will communicate that information clearly and promptly.

📬 IMPORTANT MAIL BALLOT REMINDER: USPS DOES NOT FORWARD OFFICIAL ELECTION MAIL

Planning to be away from home during election season? Here’s something every voter should know:

A USPS mail-forwarding order does NOT apply to Official Election Mail — including your ballot.

Even if you have arranged for the Post Office to forward your regular mail to a temporary address, do not assume your ballot will follow you. Ballots are mailed to the mailing address on your voter registration record and are not forwarded by USPS.

🏡 Going to be away when ballots are mailed?
Make sure the Election Office has the correct mailing address for where you will be during the election.

✅ Update your mailing address with the Election Office
❌ Don’t rely on a USPS forwarding order to redirect your ballot

Your ballot knows where you told Elections to send it — not where you told USPS to forward your mail! USPS will return to our office as Undeliverable.
